What kind of pandora's box are you feeling would be opened? There is no box. There is no problem. Just do it.

This is so simple, I think people (including the NFL) are overthinking it. Some say it will slow things down. Nope. Same amount of time, just expanding the scope of what coaches can challenge.

Coaches can't call this on every play, just like other challenges, they will save them so they don't get screwed at the end of the game (outside 2 mins), Save them, JUST LIKE THEY DO TODAY.

I'm telling you, McVay would have used this on that phantom holding call in the 4th. There is no better example of why this is needed, than that play. Momentum is everything in football, and we had it in the 4th until that one phantom call.

Coaches should be able to throw the challenge flag for freaking ANYTHING. PERIOD.

Any time a coach calls for a replay in any game, Tom Brady gets kicked in the nuts
His bye week could be a tough to manage, but we can figure that out

To put it simply where does it start? And once you start it where does it stop? Team A this year is complaining about a play not being able to be reviewed. So we change that. But then that's not right because these other teams got screwed over in their opinion about these other plays not being able to be reviewed. And so on and so on.

I get it calls are missed and screwed up and if X is under review why cant Y and Z?

What people are missing is the game is played by people, for people and it's officiated and governed by people. Mistakes are going to happen. Does that mean we can't fix things that are broken? Absolutely not that's asinine. But we're going down the road to making it over officiated which isn't any better, and quite honestly will upset more fans than things not being more open to review.

As Saints fans told us before the NFCCG don't make excuses or let the refs dictate whether you win or lose.

I don't see this. And I don't think the NFL fixes games, that's ridiculous. Very rarely has a call actually decided a game, and the Rams/Saints game does not fall into that category either. If you truly thought that I don't know how you'd even still be a fan.

The reason why nothing should change is simple: all it takes is a few people on the competition committee to possess common sense and ask why PI should be reviewable but other penalties are not. Then after that where does it end? Someone could legitimately argue for every penalty to be able to be reviewed. Then if someone says just make it a call to be challenged - that doesn't really fix our situation because there will be plenty of instances where a coach would be out of challenges (every coach would challenge a borderline PI call that went for 40 yards, even if it was in the first half) and would still get screwed by a bad call.

In the end the only solution would be to review every play/call immediately and confirm that it's correct.

And my fandom is slowly waning. I don’t think they fix every game. I don’t even think they fix every Super Bowl or playoff. But as long as everything is in place to do so, then I’ll inherently question every suspicious call. It doesn’t have to be a game ending call either, just some key momentum killers. If a team fights through the biased calls then they let them play.

I never said the Rams/Saints playoff was fixed btw. If it was I’d say the refs were favoring the Saints, and one of them slipped up in thinking that pass was tipped.

I never said that you said the Rams/Saints playoff was fixed - but some people are thinking that the game was decided by a call, and because of that we should expand replay. Truth is, that game was NOT decided by a call, and thus why should we expand replay at all?

I suppose at the end of the day I wouldn't be against making anything up to be challenged, but I don't think it will fix the issue. There are more than just three missed calls in a game.

Me neither. Especially in a playoff game. However on that same play Donald was being facemasked. I would say review the entire play, not just the call in question.

I’d even have a horribly missed call like the facemask on Goff to be reviewed, or challenged. It would take out some of the bs that causes fans to be suspicious.

No it was the same as other penalties, booth initiated reviews. This is saying that coaches might be able to use their own challenges inside the 2 minute warning on PI which they can't do on anything else. Over reaction to one bad call keeps on rolling.
