Who are the guys with real speed? I've seen a lot of good RBs but not that many that are speedsters...preferably later in the draft because I doubt they go RB early.

Analysis

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 2:35 PM EST
Oregon running back Jordan James has recorded the top speed in both the off-tackle recognition (17.55 mph) and the blast read (19.02 mph) drills among the running backs at this year’s combine.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 2:02 PM EST
Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten recorded an official 4.32-second 40-yard dash, fastest among all running backs at this year’s combine and the second-fastest of any running back weighing over 200 pounds since 2023. Tuten currently has a max-99 athleticism score according to the NGS draft model.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 1:52 PM EST
South Carolina running back Raheim Sanders recorded top speeds of 23.55 mph and 23.48 mph on his two 40-yard dash attempts, notching the two fastest speeds reached by the running backs today.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 1:42 PM EST
Texas running back Jaydon Blue (3rd, 21.68 mph) and Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten (4th, 21.67 mph) both rank among the top 5 running backs in speed at 20 yards over the last three Combines.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 1:29 PM EST
Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson just reached a top speed of 23.38 mph on his first forty attempt (4.43 unofficial), the second-fastest mark by a 2025 running back through the group's first set of runs (behind Raheim Sanders, 23.55 mph).

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 12:59 PM EST

We are just seconds away from the start of Day 3 coverage on NFL Network. Running backs are warming up for their forty runs. They are expected to start at approximately 1:10 PM eastern time.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 12:42 PM EST

Official vertical and broad jump numbers are in for the running backs. A total of eight RBs recorded a vertical of 38+ inches, tied with 2020 for the most in a single Combine since at least 2003. The group was paced by Virgnia Tech’s Bhayshul Tuten, who jumped 40 and 1/2 inches. Coupled with his 10-foot-10-inch broad jump at 206 pounds, Tuten is only the sixth running back to jump 40+ inches and 10’10”+ over 205 pounds since 2003. Entering the 40-yard dash, Tuten current sits with a max-99 athleticism score.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 12:11 PM EST

Unofficial broad jump numbers are in for half of the running back class. Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins recorded an 11’0” broad jump at 221 pounds, becoming only the second RB to record an 11-foot broad jump while weighing over 220 pounds since 2003 (2008 Carl Stewart).

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 12:06 PM EST

Running backs are up at the vertical jump. Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo just jumped an unofficial mark of 39.5 inches. It is unlikely we will see Skattebo work out in other drills throughout the day. Nevertheless, he helped himself big time, raising his current NGS athleticism score to a 74 (up from 67 based on his estimated speed numbers). He is now firmly sitting as the no. 2 running back in this year's class (behind Ashton Jeanty) with an overall draft score of 88.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 11:57 AM EST

Day 3 coverage of the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine begins at 1 PM eastern time on NFL Network. The running backs, quarterbacks and wide receivers are set to take the field here in Indy. Early reports indicate running backs Ashton Jeanty (Boise State) will not participate in drills today. Jeanty currently holds the top overall score by the NGS draft model. Among those who will work out from the running back group, keep an eye out for Jaydon Blue out of Texas when he runs his forty. There's a chance he runs sub-4.3.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 11:38 AM EST

Athleticism scores for defensive backs are now official. Four earned elite 90+ scores: Iowa State CB Darien Porter (93), Tulane CB Caleb Ransaw (92), South Carolina S Nick Emmanwori (91), and Kansas State CB Jacob Parrish (90).

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 10:50 AM EST

Measurements are in for quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers (Groups 7-9). Here’s a look at a few of the high-profile prospects and their respective measurements:

Miami quarterback Cam Ward came in at 6015, 219 pounds with 9-inch hands. Ward was listed at 6-foot-2, 223 pounds on the Miami roster, in-line with his measurements here in Indy. For colder-climate teams like Cleveland, there will be questions about his less than average hand size, though recent studies have dispelled the small hand red flag. Like Ward, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will not throw today, but did measure in this morning at 6014, 212 pounds with 9 and 3/8-inch hands. It was Ohio State’s Will Howard who came in as the heaviest quarterback among Combine invitees at 236 pounds. Howard is the only quarterback to measure over 230.

Notable running back measurements include Asthon Jeanty (Boise State) who checked in at 5084, 211 pounds (listed at 5-foot-9, 215 by Boise State), Omarion Hampton at 5116, 221 pounds (listed at 220), and Cam Skattebo at 5094, 219 pounds (listed at 215).

Among wide receivers, Arizona’s Tetairoa McMillan measured in at 6041, 219 pounds with 31 1/2-inch arms, while Missouri’s Luther Burden III came in even taller than his listed mark coming in at 6-feet-even, 206 pounds (listed at 5-11). Notably, Oregon's Tez Johnson came in at 5097, 154 pounds, the lightest player to weigh in at the Combine since at least 2003.

The 2025 defensive back class is the first Combine since at least 2003 that no defensive back ran a 4.60 or slower forty. The 2022 class is the only other year without seven or more runs of slower than 4.60.

Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 @ 8:12 PM EST

Syracuse tight end Oronde Gadsden II reached a top speed of 19.23 mph on the gauntlet drill, the fastest mark by a tight end over the last two combines.

Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 @ 7:43 PM EST

Oregon tight end Terrance Ferguson reached a top speed of 21.83 mph during his unofficial 4.63-second 40-yard dash, both of which are currently the fastest marks among tight ends at this year's Combine.

The All-American currently has an overall draft score of 81, the second-highest mark among 2025 safeties behind only Nick Emmanwori (85).

Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 @ 6:09 PM EST

The cornerback group recorded an average forty time of 4.44 seconds, the fastest CB group at the Combine since at least 2003 (faster than the 2022 CB class, 4.45 seconds). Only the 2024 wide receiver class (4.4427 with decimals) has averaged a faster forty time than this year's corner class (4.4429).

Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 @ 6:01 PM EST

Official forties are in for the safety group. Nick Emmanwori's 4.38 forty time holds as the official number. Kansas State's Marques Sigle clocked in with the fastest official time among his position group (4.37 seconds). According to the tracking data, Sigle's speed within the first yards of his run (15.13 mph) is the third-fastest mark by any prospect over the last three years, regardless of position.

Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 @ 5:51 PM EST

Nick Emmanwori reached a top speed of 23.53 mph on his 4.38-second unofficial forty, tied for the third-fastest speed by a safety over the last three Combines (Kansas State's Marques Sigle also hit 23.53 mph today). If his sub-4.4 forty holds, he would be just the second player since 2003 to run sub-4.4, jump over 40 inches in the vertical, over 11 feet in the broad, while weighing over 220 pounds (the other was DK Metcalf). Emmanwori also posted an official 43" vertical & 11'6" broad jump. He currently stands as the top safety by the NGS athleticism score with a mark of 91.

Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 @ 5:22 PM EST

Maxwell Hairston (24.25 mph top speed) checked in with a 4.28o forty, tied for the fifth-fastest time by a cornerback at the Combine since 2003. Darien Porter (4.30o) joins Riq Woolen as the only defensive backs since 2003 to run 4.30-or faster at 6-foot-2 or taller.

I can see why scouts question Howard's arm strength. Can't seem to throw it on a line...more lobbing and placement.

Night & day diff when compared to Dart.

Very weird. Only two answers make sense to me:
1. Somebody screwed up the measurement at the Senior Bowl (or wrote the wrong thing down); or
2. Milroe has worked on hand flexibility and fully stretched his hand. Either way, teams will have to do their own individual investigation, but if true, it resolves a major knock on him.

He's a freakishly gifted player. Also ran a 4.48 40 today. If @Memphis Ram is right about learning the playbook, that's a huge red flag, but man, I'd just love to see what McVay could do with him.

2025 Live Combine Analysis

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 7:11 PM EST
Ole Miss wide receiver Jordan Watkins reached a top speed of 19.78 mph within the first 40 yards of the Gauntlet, 2nd-fastest among wide receivers at this year’s Combine behind only Colorado's Jimmy Horn Jr. (19.81 mph).

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 7:04 PM EST
There were 10 wide receivers who ran a sub-4.4 forty, the most by any WR group since at least 2003. The group was led by Texas receiver Matthew Golden who ran a 4.29.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 6:53 PM EST
Tennessee wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. reached the fastest speed at 10 yards during the 40-yard dash (18.71 mph) and second-fastest top speed (23.66 mph) behind only Texas' Isaiah Bond (24.17 mph) among wide receivers at this year's Combine.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 6:28 PM EST
Iowa State receiver Jaylin Noel and Virginia Tech receiver Jaylin Lane both jumped at least 11’0” in the broad jump and at least 40” in the vertical jump, while also running an unofficial sub-4.4 forty. If their times hold, they would be two of only eight wide receivers to meet all three criteria since 2003.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 5:58 PM EST
Over the last two years, Texas has had four different receivers run sub-4.4 and reach a top speed of 23.5+ mph in the 40-yard dash: Xavier Worthy (4.21 & 24.41 mph), Isaiah Bond (4.39 & 24.17 mph), Adonai Mitchell (4.34 & 23.84 mph), and Matthew Golden (4.29, 23.57 mph). No other school has more than one over that span.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 5:21 PM EST
Iowa State wide receiver Jaylin Noel recorded a broad jump of 11 feet and 2 inches and a vertical jump of 41.5 inches, two marks that are the highest or tied for the highest, respectively, among all wide receivers today.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 5:08 PM EST
Nebraska wide receiver Isaiah Neyor recorded a broad jump of 11’1”, making him only the second wide receiver to be at least 6-foot-4, weigh at least 215 pounds, and jump over 11 feet since 2003.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 4:48 PM EST
Colorado wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. led the first WR group with a top speed of 19.81 mph during the Gauntlet Drill. Horn also hit 23.21 mph during his 4.46 forty, the 5th-fastest speed among the same group of WRs.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 4:41 PM EST
Official forties for the first group of receivers are in. Texas' Matthew Golden finished with the fastest time with a 4.29-second 40-yard dash, which breaks a tie for 2nd-fastest by a receiver weighing at least 190 pounds since 2003.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 4:02 PM EST
Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden led all receivers in the first group by running an unofficial 4.30-second 40-yard dash. Golden is tied for the 2nd-fastest 40 time by any receiver weighing at least 190 pounds since 2003.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 3:45 PM EST
Despite running a 4.41-second unofficial forty, Texas receiver Isaiah Bond recorded of top speed of 24.17 mph on his first run, currently the second-fastest top speed at this year's Combine.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 3:00 PM EST
Miami wide receiver Sam Brown Jr. recorded an unofficial vertical jump of 41.5 inches, the 2nd-highest by any receiver weighing at least 200 pounds over the last five Combines.

Saturday, Mar. 1, 2025 @ 2:56 PM EST
Iowa State wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who measured in at 6041 and 214 pounds, just jumped an unofficial 39” vertical jump and 10’8” broad jump. Higgins would be the sixth receiver to measure in at least 6’4” & 210+ to jump over 39 inches and 10-foot-5+ since 2003.

Golden proved me very wrong on his timed speed. He's a first round lock. Probably won't make it to #26 now. Unfortunate. I love what he brings to the table.

Yes, it was me. Huge issue.
Too bad couple that with Golden blowing it up we might be looking at someone else. Still like Ayomanor a lot and and Jaylin Noel did great today too.

Matthew Golden, WR, Texas

Matthew Golden ran the fastest 40-yard dash among all receivers at 4.29 seconds. That’s a blazing-fast result for a wideout who’s been garnering first-round buzz. His opening-round status is all but assured now. Golden is a natural field stretcher who is going to impact the way defensive coordinators game-plan for the offense he’s playing for next season.

Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

Luther Burden III was among the high-profile receivers that opted to participate. That proved to be a wise decision by Burden, who ran a blazing-fast 4.41 at 6-foot, 206 pounds. The Missouri product was also flawless during the gauntlet drill. We’ve reached the point in the pre-draft process where what should be a surefire first-round pick is being underrated by the general public. Don’t overcomplicate his evaluation.

Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa

Jayden Higgins displayed rare movement abilities for a receiver who tipped the scales at 6-foot-4 and 214 pounds. Higgins had impressive vertical (39 inches) and broad jump (10-foot-8) results. Iowa State’s towering playmaker then ran the 40 in 4.47 seconds during his first attempt, an extremely impressive time considering his size. He concluded a winning evening by running a flawless gauntlet drill.

Dont'e Thornton, WR, Tennessee

Dont’e Thornton was the receiver in the second group who threatened Golden's position-topping time, running a blink-and-you-missed-it 4.30. Thornton took a massive step forward for the Tennessee Volunteers this season, his second campaign with the program, accumulating 26 receptions for 661 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged an unheard-of 25.4 yards per catch.

Tai Felton, WR, Maryland

Maryland’s Tai Felton had outstanding vertical (39.5 inches) and broad (10-foot-10) jumps, finishing top 10 in both lower-body explosion drills. Felton later ran a 4.37 40. The twitchy, creative playmaker checked off some boxes during his week-long visit to Indianapolis.

Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State

Jaylin Noel is a shifty receiver who dominated at the Senior Bowl. Noel carried that momentum over to the NFL Combine by leaping position bests in the vertical (41.5 inches) and broad jump (11-foot-2) results. Concluding the athletic portion of the workout was a blazing 4.39 40. The Cyclones playmaker will be plug-and-play at the next level.

Jaylin Lane, WR, Virginia Tech

Lower-body explosion was extremely evident throughout Jaylin Lane’s workout. Lane cleared 11 feet in the broad jump and was one of three receivers to reach 40 inches in the vertical. That explosion was evident on special teams, where he had two career return touchdowns and more than 100 kickoff and punt return attempts. Placing a bow on an eye-popping workout was a 4.34 40.

Chimere Dike, WR, Florida

Chimere Dike was a standout in both the broad jump (10-foot-8) and vertical (38.5 inches). The senior playmaker then ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds. Dike displayed sizable progress at Florida this past campaign after transferring away from Wisconsin, recording a career-high 783 receiving yards and 18.6 yards per catch. His pre-draft stock has been buzzworthy among scouts.

Arian Smith, WR, Georgia

Scouts were confident Arian Smith was going to fly in the 40 and he did not disappoint by posting a 4.36. A big play waiting to happen, his testing results hardly qualified as a surprise. Smith is a vertical threat who's still ironing out the technical kinks of his game, but there's no questioning his raw athleticism.

Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State

Jalen Royals looked incredibly smooth while running a 4.42 and a position-best 1.49 10-yard split at a compact 6-foot, 205 pounds. Royals has aced the pre-draft process at every turn, from the Senior Bowl to the NFL Combine. He's earned a top-32 grade from multiple teams.

Smith is an interesting day 3/udfa option.
