New Report on Seattle's 2 Point Conversion

I am really really really ticked if this is true.
It’s water under the bridge but if true needs to be investigated and the NFL needs to respond with a statement confirming this occurred and how it will never happen again. It’s also bizarre because the broadcast official analyst almost always sides with the referees original call on the field (in this case incomplete pass/ whistle blown).

I was pist when it originally happened, but my anger for that incident was replaced by the Rams punting 4x, missed field goal, allowing a punt return for a touch down and blowing a 16 point lead with 10 mins left in the game...... All in the 4th quarter.

Sounds like Terry McAulay intervened when he should not have. This is definitely one of the freakiest rulings against our Rams in my 50 years of fandom.

Throughout the season I just had this gut feeling that this was not the Rams year even though they had the talent and team do to so. Way too early for my spydy sense to work on 2026 but logically with health and few key pieces 2026 will be their year.

Really?????

Even when the Rams fell off a bit after game 10, I thought we were a shoe in for the Super Bowl....... I still feel we are for 2026.

I'm still frustrated over the fact that they refer to it as a "backwards pass"
There is no such thing, its a loose ball, no different than a lateral

Alas, per the OP, just lends credence to what Puka said, these refs like the limelight in making "the big call"

I think the you're giving the refs too much credit regarding the limelight.... I think some of them aren't NFL caliber Refs.

There are terrible and missed calls in every game and we benefit from some and are screwed by some. This one because of the bizarre way it went down is painful. But I expect the refs to be bad and if they prove me wrong I'm ok with that.

A long list of horrible calls and screw ups by the players themselves led to us not winning another Super Bowl. But this specific play is definitely top 3 on what went wrong with us not winning another Lombardi. Probably number 2 behind Xavier Smith fumble. It's a hard pill to swallow.

Whistle Blew before anyone touched it. So should have been a replay not an automatic 2 points. They could have still gotten it but was completely against the rules.

Section 2 Article 1

(o) when an official sounds the whistle erroneously while the ball is still in play, the ball becomes dead immediately
(2) If the ball is a loose ball resulting from a fumble, backward pass, or illegal forward pass, the team last in possession may elect to put the ball in play at the spot where possession was lost or to replay the down.

On a 2 pt conversion only the person fumbling the ball can advance it. Charbonet never received or touched the backward pass therefore only Darnold himself (last person in possession of the ball) should have been able to advance it. Am I wrong on this? Why the fuck wasnt this the main point to begin with? A shit call with whistles and a dead ball laying in the end zone, horseshit.
