Young is very likely to get big money elsewhere. No way we can afford both him and Verse. I don’t see Landman costing as much as everyone thinks. And we are really his first opportunity to shine. Doubt he wants to leave the Rams after one season.
I agree Young is likely to move on because he's going to want to cash in on that sack total. Also the timing of said sack total coming in his contract season bugs me. Not necessarily his fault. Maybe it just worked out that way. But to me it's a negative to see a dude make big strides right before his payday.

All that aside what I like most about Young is his contain. He's a motor rusher, by which I mean he gets a lot of his sacks via hustle vice being a bendy or juiced freak off that edge. And those types are more common, in fact there is a good chance the Rams see the edge they drafted this year as his replacement.

We're gonna miss that contain though. His ability to make up and close down that edge to the sideline is rare. I really appreciate his game and that contain even though I recognize he's a guy who will be quickly considered to be overpaid after he hits the market and cashes in.

This is not Young's contract season. It's his 3rd year, which means he qualifies for an extension.

Knew I shouldn't have gone off memory there.

That's a good thing. I really don't like players who turn it up in the contract season. Would not surprise me if the Rams get him inked, but I suspect they'll let him try the market or at least play part of 2026 before they do sign him. We'll see though. Again I do love his contributions.

3 forced fumbles SO FAR this year, that makes up for quite a bit of athleticism.
Production versus athletic traits. Which one has the biggest impact on pay? IMO, production does.

What is clear is that Warner has both and gets paid $21 mil per year.

So is Young trade bait this off-season or a tag and trade candidate after next year?

It does.. which is why he's at the top of that second tier of ILBs and will be paid appropriately for that tier by someone. Maybe up to $15 mil annually.

He is absolutely, 100% not in Warner's tier.. and I hate Warner. Just being real. Warner is a perpetual DPOY candidate.

PAY THE FUCKING MAN, SNEAD!

Besides the peanut punch I thought Landman got exposed today and had a rough day.

Still an overall impact player.
Well, the book on him is that he's exploitable in coverage because he's stiff. That's always going to be the weakness. Still, the physicality he brings against the run and the forced fumbles are worth the coverage issues.

So, Landman should play dirty like Warner to be considered a great player?

Honestly.. why post?

If you don't want to have a discussion about what we're actually talking about, what's the point?

I mean.. I'm a fucking Rams fan.. you think I like Warner in some way? Fuck no... but I can acknowledge that he's a truly special player at his position.

Jesus.

The point is that I don't consider Warner to be a great player because he plays dirty too much of the time. He tends to head hunt like many of the 9ers.
