No way. Half that. And no mre than 2 years.
With his production, no chance at $8 mil. That's barely top 25 LM money. Are there 25 LBs more productive than him?

He doesn't cover enough ground to get money in the teens. He is in the Ernest Jones level. He is getting 9.3 per year in a 3 year deal.

Well, you are the second person who thought Jones is the best comp. You guys may be right, but I'm skeptical.

Below, I link to a post from 3 weeks ago where I compared the production of Landman, Baun, and Jones. With the FFs, TFLs, PDs, and FRs, Landman's numbers look much closer to Baun than Jones.

You could be right. That would be much better for the Rams.

I feel, though, that if Landman continues his monster season pace, Zach Baun is a more appropriate comp.

Baun 2024 numbers: 151 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 5 FF, 11 TFL, 4 PD.

Jones 2024 numbers: 94 tackles, .5 sack, 1 FF, 1 TFL, 2 PD.

Landman's projected numbers at this pace: 164 tackles, 0 sacks, 5-6 FF, 8.5 TFL, 11 PD, 5-6 FR

Baun was rewarded with a 3 year $51 mil. contract. With the FFs, TFLs, PDs, and FRs, Landman's numbers look much closer to Baun than Jones. And Landman already has 1 NFC player of the week award and could possibly get another this week.

Jones is an average, to slightly above average, LB. What Landman is doing so far is elite.
Well you might be right. I think it would be somewhere closer to 10m than 17m. I don't think they sign him for more than 10m

I suspect you're right on the amount the Rams would be willing to pay. Allocating $10 mil. for a highly productive player for a position they don't prioritize sounds about right.

But I also expect that he'll cost a good chunk more than that on the market, and he'll walk.

I think your right..

If he manages to stay healthy Landman walks next year and will get a three year 30-33 mil contract from the 49ers... they need a MLB pretty bad.

If the Rams paid Tutu 10 Mil a year, I think they can allocate that much for Landman.
Only thing is Dolac is a rookie and may be the one the Rams have slated for his replacement.

That's a very good point, but for some reason the Rams put more value with offensive personnel than defense.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but Atwell and Adams 2025 payroll ($30 million) is more than any combination of all 11 players on the defensive side.

I guess we’re going to see if they truly “value” the defense less. It’s a difficult comparison. What is the age difference between O and D? 2nd contracts are coming up on D.

To be honest with you, I didn't put much focus on the D either, because I thought the Rams offense should over shadow any of the D's short comings.... Especially with all the claims of McVay being an offensive genius and Stafford a HOFer.... But last season the D had to bail out the offense on way too many occasions, and at the beginning of this season it started out looking the same way. (3rd down and redzone efficiency just plane sucked).

If the Rams offense continue to play the way they have been lately, I just see the Rams brass throw nickels and dimes at defensive personnel, in hopes the offense will continue to smoke NFL defenses.

Wasn’t AD the highest paid defender in the entire league when they inked his contract? Didn’t they pay Ramsey one of the highest positional salaries? They tried Wagner. And im guessing they’re going to have to pony up to pay our defense once they come off their rookie contracts.

I love this too: “Especially with all the claims of McVay being an offensive genius and Stafford a HOFer.” Along with your comments on the other Stan teams really strikes a familiarity with you. I wonder why that would be. Hmmmm.

I think AD is still the highest paid defender in 2025 for the Rams.

The Rams are sort of lucky that Stafford isn't greedy and wanting to be paid market price for his services. At this point I believe he's more interested in getting another ring than squeezing 5-10 million more from the Rams. God bless him

Still think an in-season extension should be considered. If he keeps up, he along with Young will price themselves out of here. I know what this defense looked like with Reeder and Rosedick at ILB, "wasn't pretty" doesn't even fairly describe that crap. Landman will never be the best athlete on the field but he is proving his worth to this team every week.
Young is very likely to get big money elsewhere. No way we can afford both him and Verse. I don’t see Landman costing as much as everyone thinks. And we are really his first opportunity to shine. Doubt he wants to leave the Rams after one season.

He can replace Tutu at that amount

Yes, no doubt.
I think his last semi-holdout was more of a, "are the Rams going to keep McVay & get me some weapons" kinda thing.
So they go get Davante Adams, get Coleman back, draft T-Ferg & build a great stable of RB's & et voila, 9 reups at a team-friendly price.

I think Shula is gone next season, so that's gonna be problem #1. And I'm bummed about that one.

IMO the Rams should focus on two things:

1. Get a damn kicker next season.
2. Make sure we bolster the OL so that Stafford can make it through the 2026 season.
