Also we have to acknowledge that Verse has already missed more tackles than Garrett has his entire career. That's a real issue. Saying he can just overcome that deficit with hard work is like saying Kadarius Toney has the potential to develop Larry Fitzgerald hands.
Kinda like Tiki Barber couldn't correct his fumbling problem right?

Just quoting the bulk stats doesn't counter any of my points, especially when Verse entered the league 2 years older. But if you want to follow that line, yeah 20.5 sacks in 27 games is a massive gap from 12 sacks in 34 games early in their career.

That's one player averaging 13 sacks over a full season and the other player averaging 6. Huge difference.

At this point in his career at the age of 25 with the amount of playing time he's had his first two seasons we kind of know what type of player Verse is and he is very good. However his improvements will be incremental and the transformation into a Garrett kind of talent just isn't realistically possible. But you know what, I'll play the semantics game of never say never and give it a .5% chance of happening.
You're missing the point entirely that I'm making. Entering the NFL older doesn't say anything by the way. Never said Verse is on his level but he's close considering Garrett is an all time great. Verse also had more tackles for loss. Garrett just basically stayed consistent with sacking the QB after his 2nd year breakout. Verse did increase his sack total from 4.5 to 7.5 so it isn't far fetched for him to get double digit sacks in year 3 if he finishes plays (which yes, he can improve his tackling). The hard part for Verse or any player will be to consistently wreck games like Garrett to be in his tier. Does Verse have a chance? Yes..... however I'm not into giving percentages because that's literally just pulling a random number out of my ass. I'll just say, I don't truly know if he will or won't, but Verse does have a decent chance if he improves the weakness in his game.

Garrett had a stretch of 4 games last year where he had 13 sacks, more than the 12 sacks Verse has had his entire career in 34 games.

Saying that Verse is close to being on Garrett's level is not grounded in reality.

Cincinnati's first play on their final drive was a disgraceful play by Ramsey as well. This guy was as overrated as they come.
Yes, his rep as a shut down pass defender may have been legit earlier in his career with JAX. Don't know as I didn't see much of JAX during those years. What I do know is that he was a physical player and an asset to the RAMS in that aspect of his game but he wasn't all that in pass coverage and it showed up in critical situations during the 2021 post season Super Bowl championship drive.

Jalen Ramsey is FUN to watch, especially when he is on another team. He was a head case who The Rams dialed in.
—IMO COVID was a savior for him.He wasn’t good with the media & was able to build trust in himself & reporters. It’s not always easy. He was a little bit of a head case.
The beauty of Jalen Ramsey though is how PHYSICAL he IS.He can still take over a Football Game.
He is a competitor, but that also catches up to him & he gets burned more than a shut down CB does. He’ll give up the game winning drive as well.

I think Garrett made mention of McDuffie as a new guy coming in which he likes. He might be just what The Rams needed to solidify the backend of the D”. Those guys could help add to his SACK total.
IMO Myles Garrett breaks his own record in sacks.

Im right with ya on that, DR.The ONLY way we could have lost the Tampa game (and we almost did) was by Ramsey getting beat deep. We could have let Tampa march down the field and given up points with under 2 minutes to go otherwise, then it would have been onside kick and game over. Was stunned to find out that he wasn't a good cover corner. Hated his mouth and his attitude. We won mostly in spite of him, he knew better than to show up at that parade.

There's some delay/lag on the comms. He's a Godzilla guy and a Dungeons and Dragons guy and one of his D&D guys lives in LA.
Wh -w-w-w-w-hat???? Shut the door -- he's a winner OFF the field, too???
Oh and for all us old school gamers:
It's called "AD&D", not just "D&D".
"D&D" was the basic version of the game, for noobs.
"Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" is what we all played in the '80s.
"We all".... lol ya I as one of those kids.

He was really good in 2020 but fell off in 2021.

So what's the condition for the 29' 3rd rounder?
My guess?
When you’re the Rams, there’s always a chance a coordinator gets poached. There’s an extra 3rd right there. Throw in FA compensation from players lost the previous year and I see this as a case of the Rams potentially having more than one 3rd rounder to give.

Another take altogether might be performance related to either Garrett or verse.

I thought teams were prohibited from trading compensatory draft picks. Or was the rule regarding that changed?

I’m not entirely sure anymore which direction the new rule flows.
I thought you were not allowed to trade those picks before a rule changed allowed it. Has the rule been reversed?

Edit:Just googled it. According to AI, the rule allowing teams to trade comp picks came in 2017. I read nothing saying it was no longer ok.

Sorry man, you're definition of bust is way the hell off. Guess DPOY and being an all pro twice means nothing. Yes we got a great HOF player but essentially saying this dude is almost a bust yet Cleveland would only do the deal if Verse was included tells me all I need to know. Young is good but Verse was barely scratching the surface. Only reason the Rams made the trade was because they want to win right now. Verse will be a good one in the future but Garrett is already a HOF in his prime.

Sorry but your statement to me is weird 2 years into Verse's career. Saying never is premature when all he's done is win DPOY and gone all pro twice. The makeup is there but there is zero guarantee of whether or not he'll reach Garrett's level or not. Here's their 1st 2 years in the NFL in comparison, crazy how close they are minus the sacks. Those numbers would be much closer if Verse finished some of those missed sacks we have all seen. He's a young kid, acting like he doesn't have a chance to get better is crazy talk.

Verse has never won a DPOY or been an AP All Pro. He was a DROY and has been voted to 2 pro bowls. These are VERY different things.

For comparisons sake, Myles Garrett has been DPOY twice, a First Team All Pro 5 times while earning 7 Pro Bowl nods.

There is a WIDE gap between these 2 currently. Not saying Verse can't close that gap, but he has a long way to go.

Let's see how many sacks Verse gets with his team trailing 90% of the time. I love Verse, but Garrett racked up sacks with his team rarely being in a position where the opponent is desperately passing on every play.

Rams OTs about to get some work in during practice....
And if Donald does actually come back - McVay is going to have to change his practices to sit them so that his offense can actually get something accomplished.
