As of right now, yes. Acting like a young player has no chance to get much better is what I question. All I said was Verse has a chance and some people wanna act like I said he'll actually get there.

This feels like a misrepresentation of what people are saying. I'm not seeing anyone saying that Verse can't or won't get better. I'm seeing people saying that he will never be on Garrett's level.

Turner and Verse will likely both get better. But my opinion is, just as Turner will never reach AD's level, Verse will never reach Garrett's level.

Yeah I have a huge problem with saying never based on the potential he's shown. That to me is insane when he's only 2 years in. I'm not even saying it's going to be easy to get there or that it's a guarantee he's going to get there but he's got a better chance than most. Verse finishing his sacks more consistently would put him in double digit sack territory which is where Myles is as a pass rusher. There are other parts of his game he needs to work on but it's only year two, we'll see how it goes.

It's my opinion. I feel we underestimate how good the AD and Garrett types are.

There's a reason Verse isn't getting the sacks. He has one move - the bull rush. It's hard to throttle down and finish consistently from a bull rush. And I believe his arms are short. The skill set of Garrett at the same stage was far ahead of where Verse is.

If you want to say that potential is there, I disagree, but respect it.

I actually think it's funny because I'm literally just talking about Verse's potential.
Look I don't want to be negative with a player I like (Verse), but the truth is he will never be at Garrett's level. He has two seasons under his belt. The dude is a classically built (long and rangy) power end. Those guys are valuable too, which is why Cleveland wanted him in the deal. But he is not explosive and that is not going to change. And he's never going to be strong in contain.

As he ages we may see him play more and more 5T type role in that Cleveland defense as well. As that role suits him and the contain is not prioritized like it is on the blindside.

Either way Cleveland got a good young Edge. LA got a Hall of Fame Edge. They're not comparable and likely won't ever be. For Cleveland to come out on top in the trade balance, they would need Verse to show improvement in contain as well as adding more rush moves, and on top of that hit big on the picks they got.

I agree with your conclusion, but I disagree that Verse isn't explosive. He is. Verse doesn't have the bend to consistently turn the corner and win the edge. That's why he'll never be Garrett. He has to win with power, hand usage, and skill. Still has the potential to become a great EDGE, but he's never going to be an elite pass rusher. Can become a 10ish sack per year type of guy who gets a lot of pressure, but he won't be a 17 sack per year guy (Garrett's average over the last 5 years).

The gulf is vast in their relative contain as well.

One of the shows mentioned that Garret had the quickest "get off" in the league. They measure that. Verse wasnt in the top 70 and he had the best get off on the Rams, even better than Young. However, it shows that at the age of 30, Garrett should ve effective for quite a few years barring a major injury.

It also shows that Rams have a buch of bull rushers, they pressure & push the pocket, but outside of Young, they don't close often enough.
