The Jets are the poster child franchise for anyone who wants to see what happens when you have bad ownership and FO. That's why when I see stuff about Snead and McVay and even Goff it makes me laugh. The Rams are special that's why FA WANT to come to LA and love it when they get here. There is a culture in the Rams where players thrive. Even marginal players thrive because they give 100%.
Yes, this is a very special franchise and I really love it. This team is set up to be good for a long long time. It can become something great and I love watching it happen. I have been really critical of Staley but what I've seen him do after that veiled criticism from AD, has got my respect. HE FREAKING LISTENED AND TOOK IT TO HEART. That is the mark of a solid coach. Kudos to you Brandon keep it up and you will have your own team in a few years. His guys are playing hard for him and we as fans can't ask more.
So now we can look at franchises like the Jets and shake our heads and laugh while we are quietly grateful that it isn't the Rams. I've watched Snead for a long time even before he came to the Rams. He's old school in many ways, but what I'm really impressed with is his player evaluations. Too many GM's lack the scouting background. Too many are "administrator or business types". If you are going to build a team it all starts with the ability to find talent at all levels of the draft. The Jets obviously can't.
The Pats have shot their bolt and it's all about rebuilding from now on. Belicheat's plug n play system is unique but his problem is his drafts of late haven't kept up with the attrition. Yeah, they need a QB but Jimmy G isn't it. They know his issues (inconsistent accuracy) and it's why they traded him. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he looked long and hard at Rosen. Rosen's issues are IMO coaching related. He would be a good fit in Belicheat's system. He's a pocket passer with good accuracy and work ethic. Belicheat gambled he could get an older vet as a bridge QB to stay competitive while he rebuilds. That gamble failed and it's clear he will simply need to go into full rebuild mode. He's an under-rated talent evaluator and I have no doubt he will rebuild the Pats in just a few years. Don't get me wrong, I dislike Belicheat as much as any of you, but that doesn't mean I don't respect what he's capable of.
On the other hand, Bill is 68 years old. He doesn't need to continue as a coach so you have to wonder how much longer he will. As I've watched the Pats this year, the team is in shocking decline which is very unlike Belicheat. I have to wonder if his heart is in it. Personally, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he walked away from NE and the NFL and took a media job next year. The drubbing the Pats got is just another symptom of a coach getting tired.
I think Rosen is in over his head. He came in too cocky after showing nothing in college that suggested he should have been drafted where he was. I dont think Bill can cheat his way into making Rosen look good.
