I'm a Mike Martz fan.

But, No.
 
Martz might not be everyone's favorite but I know he would be an improvement over Schotty. Schotty is a lower tier OC in the NFL who is very predictable and not creative with his play calling at all, if we are being honest here. His playbook is thinner than Terry Bradshaw's hair. It's a huge upgrade if you ask me.
Martz > Schotty

I respect Martz as much as any Rams coach ever but no. Fisher's offensive philosophy is diametrically opposed to Martz's. Round peg, square hole and all that.

Martz was the QB's/WR's coach at Arizona State in 1986-'87 when they won the Pac 10 title and won the Rose Bowl. The leader in receptions for that '86 ASU team was Aaron Cox....who should be familiar to the LA Rams fans.
ASU QB Jeff Van Raaphorst had a QB rating of 140.3 that season.

Martz had two stints here coaching at ASU. '83-'87 as QB/WR coach and offensive assistant '88-'91.

I like the idea of the Vulcan Mind Touch. Martz is a QB whisperer after all. Could turn Sam into a cold blooded killer, going for the juggler of the opposing defense. That would be nice to see.

Simply put when they got rid of Martz it was a case of finding THE MOST competent man in the org. and fire his ass.
If Shaw and Ziggy had been as good at their jobs as Martz was at his,no Linny ,no Spags,Kroenke wouldn't have been anxious to buy at the price the franchise would have commanded.

Ya know me bro and I have always liked Martz and in my opinion we have sucked since he has been gone with of course the current situation unresolved as we don't know the history yet of how Fisher will turn out for a coach for us. Truthfully I have always thought the loss of Vermeil was crippling for us as well. Not him as a head coach by any means as I think Martz was the right choice and we would still have him as a head coach today except when we lost Vermeil we lost what really mattered what he brought to the table that has not been replaced yet with of course the current situation unresolved as history has yet to write it. When Vermeil retired we lost not only a coach and like I said I think Martz filled his shoes just fine. We lost something more important however to the continued success of the Ram's, we lost our general manager when he retired. While Vermeil was general manager his draft choices were all these individuals.............1997 Orlando Pace, Dexter McLeon, Ryan Tucker, Tajae Allen, Muadianvita Kazdai, and Cedric White.....1998 Grant Wistrom, Robert Holcombe, Leonard Little, Az-Zahir Hakim, Roland Williams, Raymond Priester, and Glenn Roundtree.....1999 Torry Holt, Dre Bly, Rich Coady, Joe Germaine, Cameron Spikes, Lionel Barnes, and Rodney Williams.

So while he had some misses he for sure drafted some players we built a winning tradition with, for all to short of a period. When Vermeil, left the real replacement for our general manager became dysfunction as power struggles and strife took over and ruled our front office with conflicts between it and the coach. If we could have managed to convince Vermeil, to just retire as a head coach, but still remain as the general manager I think we would still have Martz as a head coach today and the winning tradition Vermeil started would still be the norm of the day. So I have to very much agree with ya and what ya said bro.

Dammit! I love me some Mike Martz and especially love listening to him in the last few years about players, coaching, and mistakes he made. Think he has grown alot since those days of him coaching for us. He is incredibly wise from all the experiences he's ahd in football. I'd love to have him come be a Offensive Quality Control Specialist or something similar. He'd help Schotty take us to another level IMO. Wonder if he could contribute without stirring the pot to much lol
