This should be interesting. Some terms used in the athletic article are “Credible evidence” and Michigan has been using a ‘Vast Network’ to steal opponents signs.

Just when pundits are stating to ask if Harbaugh is the best coach in college football.

I don't know if the Athletic** or Yahoo gets credit for breaking the story, but since there's no paywall with Yahoo:

Stealing those signs has been a gray area in the past and teams routinely switch up their signals to guard against it.

Among college coaches, Clemson is believed to have been particularly adept at it in the past. Much of the speculation fell to former defensive coordinator Brent Venables, now the head coach at Oklahoma. At the 2021 Sugar Bowl, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields said he huddled to call plays more often in an effort to prevent Clemson from stealing signs. Other teams have used curtains, hard-to-read colors and other methods to try to disguise play calls.

**For those that don't know, you can copy paste Athletic articles to read them before the nag screen pops up.

Meh… got to see this evidence first. This might be the same shit as “ Harbaugh bought a kid a burger, let’s suspend and penalize them like other schools for cheating” :eyeroll:

Really torn here, I don't like Michigan, in fact, I don't give a damn for the whole State of Michigan, however, those kids playing had nothing to do with what is going on behind the scenes. If the coaches are involved in any underhanded dealings, then suspend, but don't take it out on the team and the players IMHO.

100% agree regardless of the team. Suspend the coaches or do what you need to do with evidence etc., but it’s starting to look like a a witch hunt.

Don't know about guilty or not don't and don't care. But to suspend him that close to a big game is very amateurish .

I don't like Harbaugh, I enjoy a good Michigan team there's just so much history so many good rivalries they're a fun team to root for, they're not my favorite team. My biggest issue is they aren't the only one rumored to be doing this and there was no "due process" and it was rushed to this conclusion.

Harbaugh is so desperate to win so he can go back to NFL. Alas, I hope that by suspending him (again) it avoids going after the team after the fact. I agree with @den-the-coach wholeheartedly, dont punish these kids, they have nothing to do with it.

He doesn't have to win to go to the NFL they've been after him for years in the NFL.

I would guess that all teams try to steal signs to some extent. Not condoning it but it's probably part of the game and kept under wraps at the coaching level with most teams. But all that aside when you get caught cheating you deserve the fallout.

Problem is the NCAA lacks a good feel for what is appropriate. Harbaugh will almost certainly jump to the NFL now and avoid punishment like Carroll did at USC, while the school gets the cockmeat sandwich.

Absolutely doesnt, but he's played this whole "Michigan man" to the hilt, and hasnt gotten them over the hump.

Happy Michigan won today especially the way they won. Only 8 passing attempts @Penn St is a damned impressive win these days especially without their coach thanks to the BG10.

Seriously doubt he’s going back to the NFL, he might have had some interest but most was a ploy to get more power within the program and contract. It’s worked.

In Ann Arbor the only thing you need to do is beat OSU. He’s started to be about to do that now.

It was pretty impressive. Honestly, I had my questions since we basically played nobody this year, the vast core is back from last year. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens against OSU in 2 weeks. Thankfully it’s in Ann Arbor.

How many times do I have to say what Carroll did was not that bad. He basically allowed free reign to his players on campus. I bet a lot of coaches do that at the schools. It was Reggie Bush who caused the entire problem at USC by allowing an agent to give his parents basically free rent at Lake Elsinore which is 3 hours from the campus.

It will not matter, IMO, Michigan is the best team in the country and unfortunately they will win the National Championship, but there will be a cloud over their head.

Hard to say. They play such a powder puff schedule. Even Ohio State isnt all that great so we'll see when they face an SEC team (that they dont have any "intel" on)
