You and I are in the same boat here, Gibbs only got 25% more carries than his teammate McClellan at Bama and had similar numbers rushing. 6.1 per carry for Gibbs 5.8 for McClellan as the year progressed McClellan got more and more of the short-yardage carries and both ripped off long runs 81 McClellan 76 for Gibbs each had 7 td's too part of that was due to McClellan getting the ball close to the endzone. Gibbs has elite receiving ability so that to me is where he becomes a very interesting prospect. Gibbs is not a good run blocker although few are coming out, it is something to be considered especially for a back that will be featured in the passing game. Achane also catches the ball well and suffers from the same pass-protection deficiencies although he runs much tougher even though he is slightly smaller.Georgia Tech is a run first, second, and third team and yet he got less carries then he did at Bama. I'm not trying to deny Gibbs is a talented back, but, for my money (its not) I'd rather have Achane in the 3rd then use 36 on Gibbs. This is provided they Rams are set on getting an offensive weapon of this mold. They are similar backs, both rely on blazing speed and both are undersized. They both can be featured in nearly the same way.
I certainly understand the intrigue of Gibbs as he may just pick up some weight and toughness and learn to pass pro.
Many experts agree with Memphis and I understand why but I still have doubts.
