Enjoy. Make sure you watch the whole video. Especially the part at the end where he says “This is Snead’s guy”.

And the Rams knew they’d be picking somewhere mid first round. They didn’t know the exact number until the first week of January but they had a really good idea the range they’d be picking in.

You don't think Snead's opinion was at least partially based on the feedback that McVay gave him on Simpson? I mean, if I am Snead, and someone asks me to analyze a QB, I am going right to McVay to get his thoughts. Don't you think that is pretty damn obvious?

How is Sean McVay giving Les Snead his opinion on college quarterbacks in December? I promise you McVay is not grinding tape on college prospects during the season.

Look, I’m not making the argument that McVay hates the pick. I’m just saying that this was Les Snead’s decision, and it was Sean’s job to get on board with it. And it sounds like he has. I also think there’s probably an understanding between McVay and Snead where they both know McVay will be taking a break and stepping away at some point. And it’s Les’ job to think about the long term post-McVay success of the team. There’s nothing wrong with that. But it is a trade off. The team has been *this close* to a SB in back to back seasons and they just used the 13th pick on someone who likely won’t see the field until 2028. That’s hard to swallow for a fan that wants to win a ring now.

The number of college starts for the kid is a concern for most, if not, all of us. History hasn't been so kind to these guys.

However, that concern is abated quite a bit for me because:
1) barring injury, Simpson gets to sit and learn behind a good QB, in a good offense, with a good offensive mind and won't be thrust into the starting lineup as a rookie before he is ready like most of the other guys selected to bad football teams.
2) Simpson isn't coming from a college offense that didn't have NFL concepts.
3) Simpson wasn't drafted moreso for his athletic abilities (mainly legs) but his mental processing.
4) And finally, Simpson doesn't have maturity issues.

If you take a look at most of the QB Busts, I don't think one can say the same.

Besides, I was just really impressed at how well he played with the 125th ranked rushing attack and his WRs dropping so many passes.

And many of them were 20 or 21 yr olds like Richardson and Darnold. Simpson is 23, turning 24 at the end of next season in December. So more mature and simply just an older guy.

Are you f@$&! dumb?

You will be the first person in all my years that I will block on this forum!

Just epic level stupid!

This was 1000% Snead’s pick. Did McVay eventually get on board? Sure. But the notion that it was McVay that led the charge for this pick is LAUGHABLE. Snead’s had his mind made up on this guy for 5 months.

McVay doesn't know shit until Snead gives him a tape and tells him to have a hard look at this player so he can give feedback.

McVay doesn't tell Snead what players to look at.

I am on board with the Simpson pick but I will be honest and say you can't ignore McVay's demeanor, what he said, and body language in that press conference. I can understand how people are reading into that especially in comparison with how pumped he's been with past draft picks.

But I'm going to speculate since that's all you can do with something like this. Look at how insanely pumped he was when we got Stafford and how everybody read into that as him basically saying "Fuck Goff". That's also how Goff took it, and he wasn't quiet about it either. That was not McVay's intention and he's mentioned many times how much he regrets how that situation was handled and how he wished he would have gone about things differently.

Fast forward to Thursday and you have him in a kind of, but not really similar situation. McVay's take from the last time is that QBs are sensitive creatures and you have to handle them with kid gloves while talking to the media. So he has to act overly somber and subdued, even if he is excited.

Do I think Stafford is not aware of his own situation at 38 years old, an oft injured career, and contemplating retirement on a year to year basis? Of course not. But I think McVay is trying to use the lesson he learned to always have his QB's back when it comes to speaking with the media.

To me, I think it's obvious that McVay and Snead were on the same page and McVay is excited for the future, but what we saw was his overreaction to intentionally underreacting in these situations.

Like seriously guys? You really think Snead brought Simpson to McVay and McVay was like, "Nah, not my kind of QB" and Snead's response was, "Fuck you, I'm drafting him anyway"? Not a chance in hell.

I'm not a McAfee guy just to be clear.

Who are the two idiots at the end of the couch?

I think their first names are Harry and Lloyd.

How is that possible if Les Snead told Ty Simpson’s father back in December that they were going to take him at 13?
Sounds to me like a bunch of projection from the guy claiming that. Not only that, he said something like Les "essentially said" - which really means he didn't say it at all. Did he say he would like to take him in the draft? Maybe. Did he say he felt Ty would get taken in the first round? Probably. Did Snead even know we had the 13th pick? Nope.

Great point. I think at one point we had as high as the 6th or 7th pick via Atlanta before they ran off some wins in December (including beating us) that ended us at 13. Had we had the 6th pick we would have most likely traded up for Love or Tate or Drafted Tyson. Then with pick 29 we would have either used it to get Simpson or made the McDuffie trade. So had we a Top 10 pick we would be without either Simpson or McDuffie right now.. Total revisionist history to the posters saying or implying that Les promised the Simpson camp he would take him with pick 13.
