One of the bloggers floated that Simpson would be packaged down the road with other assets for Burrough when he demands out of Cincy. Interesting theory particularly if Simpson shows anything when he gets a chance to play.
Hopefully he shows enough that we aren't even thinking about trading for anyone else.

I said that in prior thread as well.

If the cost for Burrow WAS three 1's, now it simply becomes two 1's and Simpson. Which could actually be MORE attractive to Cincy or other teams.

If they acknowledged they had met with him it didn't mean they thought he had "superior football IQ to be an upper echelon signal caller". It would just mean they met with him. All this talk about McVay playing chess vs the checkers the rest of the league is playing is overblown. The Rams got paranoid and didn't want STAFFORD to know. This wasn't about the other teams. No one was going to trade up to 12 or under to take Simpson. No way. We all know it'll take 2-3 years until we know if this was a wise move or not. So let's put the brakes on the Svengali thing for McVay.

IDK last year it was reported the Rams had interest in Dart and met with Dart & that is why the Giants traded up before the Rams picked to take Dart.

The Rams didn't want Stafford to know? They reportedly told him before the draft even started so how does that make sense?
They "reportedly" told him before the draft? All we've heard is they told Stafford the day of the draft what their intentions were.

If anyone knew the Rams were high on Simpson, I guarantee that would have raised his stock big-time. Yes, absolutely, the Jets or Cardinals could have taken the consensus #2 QB somewhere in the top 12.

Rams were smart to keep their interest in Simpson a secret.
You guarantee it? So what I'm hearing from you is that if McVay publicly blesses a college player then the rest of the league will just capitulate to his knowledge and intuition and then try and do whatever is necessary to jump the Rams - despite whatever their own studies show. And the cost for teams like the Jets or Cards to have moved up to before 13 - what might that have been? Their #2 and next year's #1? At a minimum? Nah, no way. And if a player was actually chosen by the Rams - e.g. Bennett - then I would assume these same slobbering teams would try and acquire him as well. After all, McVay chose him and kept him in the org for years. I respect McVay and the whole organization, but their choices are not infallible (Bruss, Allen Robinson, TuTu, etc). As a fan, I hope like hell they are right with Simpson, as it gets them a leg up on teams striving for a QB next year.

I agree with most of this, except for the Bennett (4th Rounder) Simpson (1st Rounder) comparison. Not equivalent.

That’s a great question. If Simpson shows some skills with more room for improvement, I don’t think we’re sending over 2 1sts.

Specifically, Ty is still on a rookie contract. ACL and MCl tears and an expensive contract for Burr. No guarantee a Super Bowl chip comes with Burrow.
Right. At the time Burrow comes out available (if it happens) McVay/Snead could very well say "pass."
