I think people who want to keep Alaric are gonna be bummed regarless of our QBExactly. If he costs us Alaric, I’m not going to feel bad for him when he’s getting hammered all day from the left. It’ll be his bed he made.

Yes. If they were to trade Stafford, then this is the offseason to do itWhat I find interesting this season is that if you wanted to maximize value return on an old gunslinger QB the offseason conditions you would want would include a shitty QB draft. So realistically this represents a spike on that timeline of where Stafford will have his most value before he retires.
And that is likely to be the big sticking point that causes him to move on.Interesting, it's the first time I've heard someone actually say that Rams wanna go year to year with Stafford, I figured they'd be at least okay with 2 years if they renegotiated. Makes sense though.
I respect and appreciate what you are saying, but i think I'm not the only one who feels that Rodgers wouldn't be good for a locker room ... even the onion makes fun of the thought ...I don’t think McVay would ever let that happen. There’s also an argument that Stafford nearly kept us from the playoffs by playing hurt for the last three weeks. You don’t think guys would’ve been pissed knowing he had cracked ribs that he could’ve rested from?
If they move on from Stafford they likely sign Aleric.I think people who want to keep Alaric are gonna be bummed regarless of our QB
Yeah that's a good point - but it's still flawed in that we don't have the next QB in place. Next year would make a lot more sense. What I find interesting this season is that if you wanted to maximize value return on an old gunslinger QB the offseason conditions you would want would include a shitty QB draft. If they let Stafford go I have less concerns about Jackson because I look at 2025 as a mini reset... plus the extra draft pick gives you a better chance of addressing that position fir the future.I think people who want to keep Alaric are gonna be bummed regarless of our QB
Which is why any trade for Stafford should include next year's first-round pick from the other team. The goal is not this QB draft class, it's 2026 which will include the likes of Arch Manning, LaNorris Sellers & Cade Klubnik to post a few.
Yeah his age and injury history are a reasonable thing to consider. Dude has been banged up every year. The bottom could fall out soon.I don't think McVay is ok with a disgruntled QB in 2025. Suspect they are ready to move on, assuming they get a compensation package they can live with.
Disadvantage for them in that regard is his age and mileage. Advantage for them is he still has a good arm, just put up some high level playoff tape, and he is among a very small group of QBs who you can say has a chance to win out in the playoffs even without a run game. What that translates into, we will see. But I think the value return comes down to whether any other teams are competing for him.
I'd take the 2025 second and 2026 first for Stafford.
And unless they work a roster miracle with all that they're still the 4th best team in the division. And with a short term stop gap at QB while the rest have their QB for a long time. Also all the coaches in that division have had success.Maybe it's not a losing situation.
As I posted in another thread, along with no income tax the Raiders have the 2nd most cap space in the league, 10 draft choices, and a new HC who has had success in the NFL. They could possibly turn things around in one season just like Washington did last year.
And they've been giving KC problems even without good QB play.
Jourdan said Rams want Alaric to test the market and they themselves are curious to see how much he'll garner. If they move on from Stafford they likely sign Aleric.
Yeah, I agree here, Jourdan said as much.If they let Stafford go I have less concerns about Jackson because I look at 2025 as a mini reset... plus the extra draft pick gives you a better chance of addressing that position fir the future.
He does have those leadership qualities now that I think about it.McVay always comments on Stafford’s emotional maturity. It will be Matthew’s decision to make and once he does I think he ends up being comfortable with it.
Feels like it would be a mistake to let Stafford walk and then not at least keep the young core.Jourdan said Rams want Alaric to test the market and they themselves are curious to see how much he'll garner.
Like I said, those that want to keep him either way may be in for a rude awakening.
Especially if Stafford leaves, and Jackson gets a huge offer that might garner a 3rd or 4th rd comp pick, they likley take the pick and bank it for next years trade up ammo or to offset the picks they will lose if they move up.Jourdan said Rams want Alaric to test the market and they themselves are curious to see how much he'll garner.
