Good lord...

I want Stafford to get MVP and he deserves it, but nerd ball writers don't like west coast players for MVP awards.

I'll be pleasantly shocked if they give it to Stafford

I’ll be even more shocked if they don’t. Pretty clear winner. Nobody is close stats wise while playing a First Place schedule. Meanwhile the New England QB faced one of the easiest schedules in the league.

But will you also avoid your So Ram burner account.
Well im NOT so sure about that Mr. Merlin!!! NO body wants to listen toME!! but I do know a few tHINGS and weather or not you BELIEVE THEM is kind of like PINEAPPLE on pizza. One of THOSE dont belong on THE RAMS and as ive been sayting all SEASON and even before the first game that I remember last year when TROY REEDER was the starter and many here said no he sahouldnt be well i said YES

The reason I've seen mentioned a number of times for Maye is that he means more to a team with talent deficiencies than Stafford does to a more stacked team. Not saying it's a good argument but sounds like that's why Maye will win.
The Kalshi betting market favors Stafford by 84% to 16%. They normally have it right.

Where do you come up with this stuff?
Ladanian Tomlinson and Shawn Alexander both won MVPs

Stafford will win the award, but will not be able to attend the event for obvious reasons...

...He is in traction with his back issues.

:hiding:
They need to put his ass back in that red light trailer and recharge him. And no, red light doesn't mean hookers you damn pervs.

Article on who's the real MVP

Of course Walder leans heavily on QBR, as it is ESPN's baby. I don't have an issue with that but I do have an issue with QBR itself. It's subjective and has things that don't have anything to do with the QB like, "typical YAC for that route". For something like that, wouldn't it be different for every receiver running that route?

More credit for performance vs strong defenses, less for weak defenses. How are they rated? By their ranking? By their yards allowed? Can't defenses strength's differ significantly from week to week (and certainly from beginning of the season to the end) depending on losing guys to injury or guys developing as the year progresses. So a "final ranking" or even "current ranking for that game" isn't exactly accurate.

IMO, QBR is just one way to rank a QB's performance and was developed because the normal QB rating formula doesn't take into account many things. Does it provide a solid argument for MVP? Absolutely not. It isn't any better or worse than the "normal" rating formula. In fact, we really don't know the formula as it's proprietary property of ESPN and like anything, if you don't show how you've arrived at that conclusion, we can't take it as definitive, now can we.

Let's make it simple. I've looked at 3rd down performance, Red Zone performance, 4th Quarter performance and performance when trailing, as I believe they are extremely important for a QB. And not just by the "old" QB formula for those catagories but the amount of snaps/pass attempts in each of those catagories. And I've also looked at the schedule, which has been reported as the weakest in recorded history when it comes to the Patriots. We don't know ESPN's formula but just based on the level of competition Maye has faced, combined with the numbers in some catagories compared to Stafford, I don't see how any reasonable formula could have him coming out ahead.

And lastly I'm tired of hearing Stafford has a better surrounding cast. Drake Maye had Stefon Diggs, an 11 year vet with over 11,000 yards receiving and 1,000+ in 7 of the last 8 years (injuries prevented an 8th). Yeah, chopped liver!!! The rest of the WR corp consists of Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas, unknown but excellent Kayshon Boutte and speedster Kyle Williams. Add TE Hunter Henry who has averaged 50 receptions a season over his 10 year career and Austin Hooper, another 10 year vet. Stevenson and Henderson are excellent RBs (600 & 900 yards, respectively). Their OL is a good mix of vets and talented rookies and the continuity is among the best in the league. 8 games missed. Veterans Onwenu, Moses and Bradbury and 1st rd rookie Campbell, 3rd round rookie Wilson. The Patriots also have the #8 ranked D by yards and #4 ranked D by points allowed. And you can see the affect that has had on the amount of stress Maye has been subjected too. Has Stafford had the better surround cast? Sure. Significantly better?

Here's the numbers I believe are important:

3rd Down performance:
Maye 80 of 127 (63.0%) 1153 yds, 9.08 yds/att, 8 TD (6.3%) 5 Int (3.9%) 97.0 rating
Stafford 71 of 139 (51.1%) 903 yds, 6.50 yds/att, 7 TD (5.0%) 2 Int (1.4%) 82.5 rating

EDGE >>>> Maye

RedZone:
Maye 47 of 72 (65.3%) 325 yds (4.51) 20 TD (27.8%) 3 Int (4.1%) 97.5 rating
Stafford 66 of 104 (63.5%) 409 yds (3.93) 33 TD (31.7%) Int (1.0%) 106.9 rating

EDGE >>>> Stafford

4th quarter:
Maye 72 of 107 (67.3%) 824 yards (7.70) 3 TD (2.8%) 1 Int (0.9%) 95.7 rating
Stafford 81 of 127 (63.8%) 1024 yards (8.06) 13 TD (10.2%) 1 Int (0.8%) 119.7 rating

EDGE >>>> Stafford

Trailing:
Maye 116 of 167 (69.5%) 1460 yards (8.74) 12 TD (7.2%) 4 Int (2.4%) 110.4 rating
Stafford 147 of 226 (65.0%) 2024 yards (8.96) 14 TD (6.2%) 3 Int (1.3%) 108.7 rating

EDGE >>>> PUSH* (though if you look at the number of attempts when trailing, Stafford has 35% more. READ: Maye was rarely trailing. READ: Much less stress)

There you have it. My vote would go to #9 but of course I am a homer!!!!

EDIT: Forgot to mention his theory is more flawed simply by having Prescott ranked 2nd and ahead of Stafford.

Heard on the Herd.

Stafford had 400 yards (457), 3 TDs, 0 interceptions vs Seattle the #1 scoring defense and that is the first time in NFL history that has happened vs a team ranked as the #1 scoring defense. What???????

Add to that he wasn't sacked and the offense scored 37 points. Damn.

Oh that D is going to be fired up. Stafford and the gang need to keep their heads. Focus on 1 play at a time and make them think Deja vu without the punt return and all that.

Blake Corum is going have a big run in this game. Heard it here first. At least I hope so.

Need to beat this team with big plays. Orvalosky pointed out they have hit Seattle with big plays in each game. They won't sustain long drives consistently. Stafford can't miss on those throws where a guy breaks open. Has to be sharp this week.
