Because they can choose to take quotes out of context, they can do a simple hatchet job, or maybe you make a mistake.

Lynch isn't paid to talk to the media. He's paid to play football. Talking to the media in no way affects his performance in his job.
Furthermore, not filing something could majorly affect the work I do and hurt my client. Not talking to the media doesn't affect Lynch's job as a football player. Plus, the clerk being a bitch just makes it unpleasant. But there isn't a thread of that clerk taking something I said out of context and putting it on the first page of every major media source in the country.
As far as not having to talk to the media after every game during the season, that maybe true but he did already get fined for not talking to them after a regular season game...so there's still clearly some "obligations" there.
