I often wonder what is involved in a strong arm. Mechanics can only get you so far. So which muscles or combination of muscles matter most? Pectorals, Glutes? A combination of everything?

Hip flexors and abs too. A lot of strength and coordination in the flexors will help when you turn and square your hips into the throw.

I think arm strength is way overrated.

JaMarcus Russell and Kyle Boller had extremely strong arms and both were extremely disappointing.

Case Keenum just signed a 42 million dollar contract with 25 million dollars guaranteed.

Brains
Drive
Ambition
And mostly the reaction time between your brain recognizing an open receiver and pulling the trigger on throwing the ball to him.

I can’t understand wtf those db’s Were thinking? You should know better not to let people get behind you and then you lose him on top of that!? Wow...

I don't like Mahomes. He's too up and down tbh, and while he's got great coaching behind him I suspect they are going to regret moving on from Alex Smith. Their problem last year was their defense.

The Chefs better have one helluva Oline to allow for time on such throws. Defenses just need to hit Mahomes early, and often. Make the man hear footsteps....Hit him a lot, and he won’t like it!

Arm strength is good, but Adam Carricker, former Rams DT, could throw a football more than 70 yards without trouble...lol

I'm not sure about Mahomes either.

Several things, but mainly decision making. At the NFL level... that's a trait you want as a strength.

Andy Reid may not be a good head coach, but he'll definitely develop Mahomes to be a viable starting QB.

I think some of it is something guys were just plain born with. Guys who are dedicated can work to improve a strong arm into a great one. But I think either you have it or you don't. When I was 18 it wasn't hard for me to throw over 60 yards in the air and I was not an athletic person. It was nothing I did as far as working on it. I just always had that stronger than average arm. Just don't ask me to hit a target with it.

Impressive but I wish they measured arm strength by how hard a guy can throw an out route or a seam to a reciever . Maybe use a gun and get an actual mph? Seems more beneficial for game situations.

The distance thing is cool but most guys can chuck it 50 yards plus and how often do u really need to do that ?

I watched the clip that had all his throws this pre-season and as a matter of fact, every “every pass” clip from every QB I saw had one thing in common. Aside from maybe one or two passes, every other pass was pretty much within 7 yards of the line of scrimmage.

When oh when is a QB with a reported strong arm going to hit on a bunch of passes over 20 yards in the pre-season? And Back-ups? Fuhgettaboutit.
