Hearing lots of chatter about Trey Lance not being ready. Montana came out publicly and talked about how he's heard Lance isn't ready. Wiley and Acho talk about it in the clip below. Probably too late for Jimmy G to come back to the team. And it makes me very nervous, because I fear it will ratchet up talk of Brady going there to save them and the Niners will make a very strong, compelling pitch to him.

Don't care. We will own their ass no matter who the QB is...

So yeah, if he is a bust, the Niners narrative of All or nothing (that the media has ignored) gets answered.

Brady is a significant upgrade over Jimmy G, whom the Rams barely beat.

I care. A lot.
I agree with your concern; and could see "wild" scenarios where Brady or Aaron Rodgers try to get themselves to San Francisco, because the Niners are loaded. However, Brady is not a free agent just because he announced his retirement.

Furthermore, I don't see the Bucs wanting to trade Brady's rights; or Green Bay wanting to trade Rodgers outright to an NFC team if they could avoid it. If they did, draft pick compensation would probably have to be involved ... and the 49ers traded their 2022 and 2023 first round draft choices to move-up for Trey Lance.

It's possible but those are a couple of big hurdles.

Brady has never beaten the Rams unless Bellicheat is his HC...No worries.

You're whistling past the graveyard.

Rams are much, much better than Bucs, even with Brady. Rams and Niners are very close, and that was with Garropolo, not Brady, who would be a significant upgrade.

Agree -- that's the rub. The Bucs or the Pack would have to be willing to make such a deal and I suspect they would not be inclined to do so -- particularly the Packers, who keep losing to the Niners in the playoffs. And, fortunately, the Niners have very little to trade, and would have to throw in some key players to make it a reality.

Until further notice, Brady is retired. If not, he is owned by Tampa, which means they would have to trade for him. There is no whistling past the graveyard unless these hurdles are cleared. Again, we are a better team that is over the psychological hump of Frisco.

And, the whole point of a team acquiring a Brady, Rodgers or Russell Wilson, would be to go for a Super Bowl in the next year or two. Trading a top-player is inconsistent with that goal. What if Detroit had said, 'you can keep one of the two first round picks but we want Cooper Kupp'.

I like how the "mortgage their future" logic doesn't apply to the shitters, for a guy that can't even get on the field over Jimmy Garoppolo.

Those broken clocks might be right. I don't trust that Trey Lance is going to be any good, but I know the talking heads just arbitrarily pick story lines and run with them. I don't trust them for the Rams and I don't trust them for anyone else either.

I listened to Bay Area Sports Talk KNBR 680 today and this was a big topic of conversation. The talking heads all but conceded Trey Lance is not ready to play but the niners have no number 1 draft picks to trade. So if the Packers or Bucs are the trade partners they would have to agree to Garappolo and 2nd or 3rd round picks, and or Nick Bosa as a sweetener. They (talking heads) think the fans would go ape shit if Bosa were included in the deal. Personally, assuming Goff and Garappolo to be roughly equal, I don't think the Packers or Bucs would deal for 2nd or 3rd round picks with out Bosa being part of the deal.
On a side note it appears their GM Lynch turned down a TV deal to announce.

But your original argument was not that it would difficult for SF to acquire Brady -- which I agree that it would be. You were saying you're not afraid of Brady on the Niners, regardless of how difficult it would be to make that happen. I think Brady would make the Niners instant NFC favorites. So I sure hope he stays retired.
