A lot of “I heard” “I think” and nothing to back up any of it. Along with the sky’s falling and my life sucks. Pretty pathetic four games into the season with a lot of guys coming back.

I am not ready to quit on this season. And will not until it is over. And I mean over until the season ends.

Then we can have discussions.

I hope McVay is with us another successful 40 years. We will never be able to replace HIM.

McVay is in the middle of this so called rebuild. To say he would not be a part of that just makes no sense.

I like these players. Too bad injuries are taking their toll this year.

The future is BRIGHT!!!

As far as never being able to replace McVay, one thing I learned early in life, " is when you believe that no one could ever replace you that is when you are about to get fired".

I know McVay and the rams looked into trading up with Washington for Jalen Daniels. It means they have been on the hunt for a new QB of the future. We have a bigger history of going after Vets, but we don't have an AD primed for a Superbowl, so maybe they go youth.

Hard to say since McVay may pull up stakes in a year or so.
How insane would it be to have Daniels? He's a freakin STUD.
If Stafford walks, it might be time to call Kevin O’Connell. The Vikings drafted their QB of the future but Sam Darnold is playing out of his mind. We might be able to grab one of the two for a discount.
Darnold is a UFA after this season. He'd be foolish to resign with the Vikes during the year and I'm not sure they would even do that. They drafted their QB of the future this year. Darnold is going to get paid paid if he continues doing what he's doing. If there is any chance Stafford retires, Rams would be pretty wise to give old Sam a call.

I'm having flashbacks to last year when a bunch of people wanted to give up and fire McVay, fire Raheem, trade Stafford, trade Kupp, etc after the start we had.

8 of the 12 teams in the NFC have 2 wins or less. 9 wins is likely a playoff spot, 8 wins might even have a chance.
The season is far from over

I have liked Darnold since he came out the tunnel as a young kid for USC and played balls out. But I gotta say I'd be worried about paying him. Because to get him some team is going to be expected to give him $50+ which to me is fucking insane.

Stafford hasn't said a thing about retirement. He is trying to finish his career strong and undoubtedly wants another title. So I would much rather keep him happy and build around him than go fishing for his replacement.

And irt that fishing there are different ways to do it. Draft, Castoffs, and FA. Castoffs are often FAs but I classify them that way because they are at a low point in their value around the league, versus a guy like Darnold who is a castoff but will hit FA at a high point and get paid.

Draft sometimes has QBs get unappreciated for one reason or another and a team like the Rams that has a tendency to draft late can have a shot at moving up for them. Or you can do your homework and take a shot on them mid to late round, which is what I expect the Rams to do this next draft. Because, let's face it, they gotta solve LT.

Castoffs are the guys like Mayfield, Wentz, Garoppolo etc that nobody is particularly high on when they are available. I think scouring this market every year is key for us. Not just in the respect of having a good backup and being insulated against Stafford deciding to retire in a surprise move. But also because maybe one of those ends up putting it all together under McVay and we can get a deal done at a reasonable rate as a successor.

FA is the one I'm not a fan of. I don't like our track record of paying guys we don't know. We suck at that. Rams clearly are not doing enough homework on these guys, and missing on a QB would be immensely painful. So for them to go after Darnold I'd say they would need to be in love with his tape and also do a lot of digging and get good background information on him and also they would need to be unsure of Stafford's plans or whether he's game for pushing to another title over let's say the next three years.

I think when the time comes Mcvay will choose a vet as Staffords successor. Like others have mentioned I don't see Mcvay having the patients for a rookie learning curve. Gotta say that it's getting a bit old that every time the Rams hit a bit of adversity the Mcvay and Stafford retirement talk gets brought back up. I can't tell the future but I'm fairly confident that our headcoach and QB1 are mentally tougher than that.

This is simple to me, win another Super Bowl with Stafford next year. Tank the following year while cutting bait with any and all bad contracts, draft Dylan Raiola to set up up the next 15 years of Rams greatness.

Go get our LT of the future this next draft in round 1. Come out of that draft with a widebody for NT who can eat doubles, another intelligent pass game weapon, and a CB who can get his fucking head around.

For QB2 sign a castoff in FA. And for the love of fuck let your starting OL have a quarter together in game 3 of preseason so maybe they can start the season on the same sheet of music. Then let's go win another title with Stafford slinging it.

With the injuries to the offensive line and top 2 receivers out I think Stafford's doing one helluva job. Second half of last year and first 4 games this year it sure seems like he's not slowing down as he gets older. Elite arm talent is still there. Processing is at a very high level. You gotta stick with him no matter what happens this year. Its not his fault the defense is among the worst in the league. With a middle of the road defense we'd probably be looking at 3-1 instead of 1-3.
