There's a strong possibility Stafford walks this offseason. There's also a slimmer chance he retires but he's gone on record saying he's got a few more years in him. Personally, I don't think the way this team is built right now gives him much of a reason to stick around - hopefully I'm wrong.

But lets assume I'm not and he walks after this season. What's the game plan? Draft a rookie, sign a vet, roll with Stetson?

Give me your thoughts.

I know McVay and the rams looked into trading up with Washington for Jalen Daniels. It means they have been on the hunt for a new QB of the future. We have a bigger history of going after Vets, but we don't have an AD primed for a Superbowl, so maybe they go youth.

Hard to say since McVay may pull up stakes in a year or so.

I think Stafford and McVay leaving at the same time is a higher possibility than people are giving credit. I think it’s definitely on the table.

I think Stafford is playing well enough where he wants to compete for another Super Bowl. And if the Rams aren’t going to put the pieces around him to be able to make it happen, I could see him wanting to move on. And if Stafford moves on, I think McVay makes a similar decision. Because if Stafford is gone (traded, waived, retired, etc) there is a 99% chance the Rams will get worse at the QB position. And if you give this roster a league average QB, it won’t be competitive from a playoff standpoint. And I don’t think McVay wants to stick around for that. I don’t think he wants to rebuild with an unproven rookie QB that Les picks. I think he’ll “retire”, do TV for a year or 2, and then get a HC job with a ready made QB situation and budding roster.

If Stafford walks, it might be time to call Kevin O’Connell. The Vikings drafted their QB of the future but Sam Darnold is playing out of his mind. We might be able to grab one of the two for a discount.

If Stafford walks then I think they go full rebuild and cut Kupp to and draft a receiver to play with puka and Whittington hopefully a superstar in round 1-2 not just a hard worker but somebody super talented something we haven’t had in a long while

Where was this reported. Haven’t recalled seeing us looking to trade up to take Daniel’s anywhere.

Another year of going through the motions. I bet they be knew when Donald up and retired they were gonna suck and all 4 knew it. (kroenke,McVay, Sneed and Stafford.) They were hopefull but not realistic. So who knows with Stafford. Look they got their stud qb and were only able to win 1 superbowl. That was awesome but here we are. We have a stud Qb now and can't win.

I still want to know why they traded Jones.

I don’t see McVay sticking around for a full rebuild. I just don’t. He already almost retired once. And that was on a team with Stafford, Kupp, and Aaron Donald. If the team was a contender but Stafford was looking old and holding the team back, McVay would 100% stick around for his replacement. No question. But that’s not the case here.

To me Les Snead has a real clear set of choices. If you think this team is capable of making deep playoff runs this year and/or next year—without totally mortgaging the future—you make the moves you need to make and go for it.

But if he deep down thinks the best case scenario is a wild card team, you gotta consider trading Stafford and going full rebuild. His value has never been higher. He would net multiple first round picks. You draft a QB, whose rookie salary would take the sting out of Stafford’s dead cap hit. You could legit have back to back seasons with multiple first round picks. The problem with that route is that Kupp is likely gone in the offseason and so too is McVay.

Stafford has a 23 million dollar cap hit next year.

Could he retire? possibly.

"Walking?" I highly doubt it.

Pretty sure Darnold is on just a 1 year deal.

His contract is really confusing. I thought he restructured it so he'd be a UFA next year. It was reported as "essentially a 1 year 40 million dollar deal".
