So we overpaid Gurley for no apparent reason. On the open market with the most cap space in NFL history, a comparable back should have gotten more than we paid Todd.

Bell is easily comparable to Gurley.

If I was Bell's agent, I could make the case that he's just as productive as Gurley is, easily (and he has been).

When you factor in that we've seen massive overpays for ILB (Mosley/Alexander), EDGE (Ford/Flowers), CB (TruJo), WR (Watkins), QB (Cousins/Foles), S (Collins), T (Brown) - going by position groups that's DL, LB, DB, WR, QB, OL - literally every position group on the field except for TE and RB - it tells us that a RB in FA who is comparable (and let's take the Rams homer glasses off for a minute here - Bell/Zeke/Barkley/Gurley are all in the same tier) should be paid more than the others in that same tier.

I'm not too torn up about it because I think Todd is worth it, but normally when you extend someone early you do so to get a bargain. When Zeke gets re-signed I will feel better because he will surely make more than Todd at that point, which will change how I feel - but $10 million more guaranteed than Bell? I don't feel great about that. And there really aren't any red flags with Bell - he held out from Pittsburgh but they were using him to the point to where his career was going to be shortened, so I don't blame him for that.

Bell is a 2 time offender of the drug policy and faces a huge suspension/lifetime ban if he gets busted again. He also hasn't played any football in over a year, January 14, 2018 is the last time he played.
For him to be in the ball park of Gurley is amazing.
Not comparable at all, just look at the money he lost sitting out a year

Le'Veon ... Le'Veon likes his mon-aaaaaaayyyyyyyy

He should have been smart and played under the tag for 14MIL, and then signed the deal the Steelers offered him.

They offered 5 years, 70MIL with 33MIL guaranteed. He wanted 17 per year.

He just signed for less than what the Steelers offered and missed out on one full year of pay.

I'm going to predict that he fails another drug test too. It'll be his 3rd time and he will get 10 games I think. It may only be 8 but for some reason the number 10 comes to mind.

Only $10M of that Steeler’s offer was fully guaranteed at signing. Compare that to the $28M fully guaranteed he got from the Jets and you can see why he was unhappy with the Steelers deal. All those other numbers are fluff.

I'm glad Bell got a good deal. I might have been the only one that thought Gurley was over paid. Everyone was so excited that he was locked up for a long time. Bell may have lost out on some money but, the Steelers lost out on making the playoffs. They should have given him a little better offer. Honestly I can't worry that he lost some money. He should be set for life. He stood by his principles which is his right. Hope Bell stays out of trouble. He is fun to watch and hard to defend.

As long as Gurley can stick his foot in the ground, cut and GO, then I'm all good with Gurley.

Unfortunately, late in the season, he would do this little triple step cut that was just slow enough that backside pursuit could catch him before he'd gotten to the second level.

I pray for the best as I haven't been this thrilled about a Rams RB since Faulk (all respect to SJ39, but Gurley's better).

i find that hard to believe. maybe he's just talking about his salary without the signing bonus.

It's really looking like Bell screwed himself. I fully understand it's his life, body and money but the numbers are looking like he would have been better off taking the Steelers offer or playing last year on the franchise tag then taking a deal like this. Again I'm not on the players or the owners side in any of these things but as I said earlier IMO he cost himself money. While trying to stick it to the Steelers gave the fans a lesser product for their money and it seems cost himself money in the end. But if he and the Jets along with their fans are happy that's all that matters.

ahhh, he was taking into account last season as well in that tweet. so bell got $26m fully guaranteed it seems. that's what he wanted. it's way better than the paltry $10m the stealers offered him. so i guess bell will be happy.

I grew up watching "The Jetsons" on an old black and white back in the day. So, yeah, I'm old (SHADDUP!). At any rate for some reason, IMO, this show was not as entertaining as The Flintstones though both shows had a similar premise.

Well, of course, except that George's dog, Astro, used to say "Ruh Roh!!" whenever something bad was going to happen or Mr. Jetson would come up with one of his hair-brained ideas. I still hear people today from time to time use it as an expression or a meme or whatnot.

So, thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Zaphod, well mebbe in some ways but I always enjoyed when Fred would come home from work and Dino would just flatten him. Happened every time and no matter how many times Fred told Dino to chill out and calm down he would just bowl him over.
However, my favorite scene was during the credits at the end of the show when Fred would put the Saber toothed Tiger, er.....the "cat" out, and the "cat" would jump back into the house and put Fred outside in the cold. Then the show ends with Fred yelling, "Wilma!!!"
Not to pick or anything but they just don' make shows like that anymore.
