Floyd was a damn solid player.

Started every game, all 3yrs with the Rams. 29 sacks… real consistent nearly 10 each year.

And Floyd was disciplined playing his assignments, putting him in coverage instead of sack chances at times. He made it a wide edge too by playing the run real well.

I will miss Floyd. He’s my kind of player.

Floyd: one of about 10 players in 2021 where you could say "we don't win a SB without that guy."

My favorite play of his was that pick off of Murray in AZ to help the Rams who were missing key players knock off the Cardinals from the top. Just a big big play from many he has had with us.

I believe a Ramsey trade is still in play, wouldn't be surprised to see Higbee gone either. Whatever it takes, I'd like to see some additional 2'nd & 3'rd round draft picks added to our collection.
Almost has to. One thing that I did not realize is that at least from what I read, if they designate Floyd's release as June 1st, they don't realize those cap savings until June 1st. So they can't get under the cap without quite a few more new moves. Now, a Kupp restructure would help and with those releases it will allow them to push some of his money to next yr.

However, it would seem to be required that they need to make a few more moves if they hope to have any money for FA and the draft.

So maybe they take just the $3M savings for Floyd and the Wagner $5M savings right now so they save their entire 24' cap numbers next yr?

Just throwing it out there.Didn’t get the thing with Les Snead on Baker Mayfield, Was he thinking about keeping him(resign?).
Snead talked how good he was,but not sure if he was thinking Comp Pick.
—Either way Stafford might need to restructure as well & might be all in. It’s actually his fault The Rams are in this mess.Add the draft picks missing as well.

Keeping it Floyd. He played hard, but he disappeared to many times.Really never understood resigning him to such a big Second contract.
I liked him,but MAN he was BAD the last couple games. He got moved to The Right OLB against left tackles & he wasn’t the same as he was at LOLB.

Likely working to get everything they can off the books for 2024. If so, 2024 wheeling/dealing will be fun to watch. This year it’s all about the Draft and maybe resigning a couple FAs.

He's so hated on here. He's an elite run Defender on the edge and pretty solid pass rusher. And has made plays in coverage.

Honestly, I don't have a fucking clue what's going on anymore.
There have been a number of clues and they point to the Rams being all in on another loosing season.

Floyd's gonna be 31 when the season starts. Sure, at 31 there's still something in the tank. But for how long? Would we be more competitive with him this year? A year its looking more and more like they're resetting everything to start over? If they don't think 2023 is going to be a competitive year with or without Floyd, I can understand the reason for cutting him. Set themselves up so its only a one year rebuild. Not a 3 or 4 year rebuild.

I honestly didn't realize he was 31. Thought he was around 28. Makes the pill a little easier to swallow.

He was born in Sept. 1992. He's 30 now but will be 31 when the season begins. There is something about that 30 threshold. They might still be productive but it sure seems like that is when players start to get injured more often.

Cutting a very productive dude that has had an average of 10 sacks a year and was great against the run to only save $3 million? Yeah color me confused

Agree. I still don't like it with him going to be 31. But we have ZERO on the edge. If you want to rely on a Hoecht, who is a great try hard dude, then you're fucked.

I'll say this about Michael. He started 5 or 6 games and had 4.5 sacks. That's really good. He needs work yes but I see a bright future for the guy.

Rams have very little invested at this time on the current 2023 roster in OLB'ers or ER's.

Other possible OLB/ER prospects Mike Hoecht & Travin Howard are involved in FA'cy. I believe both will be resigned back.

The list above sure appears more like 43 DE's not 34 D. The only defender that matches Floyd's physical size is 2nd season Edge Daniel Hardy

Maybe they really are planning on moving AD primarily outside - starting this year.

Not entirely understanding the excitement over the Draft.

Right now, the Rams have two picks in the first 166 selections.

That ain’t much.
Its probably better then 75% chance that Ramsey is traded to acquire more picks. When they named the pillars of the team they are going forward with, he was not mentioned. Likely they have a few acceptable offers in hand and are hoping to up one of them.
