Hiring is a crap shoot.. so are college admissions.. and standardized testing guarantees nothing.

Heck.. drafting is a crap shoot.
The Rams philosophy has been as much about quantity as quality.. and Snead says as much. They aren't smarter than everyone else, that's why a high number of prospects is important.

Do a good job scouting, know what and why you're asking prospects certain things in your interviews and that should be enough. It's football knowledge and ability to learn football that matter.

Maybe. A standardized test vs how quickly a player can memorize a playbook don't really go hand in hand does it?

It's like giving a shop student and a seasoned auto mechanic a standardized test to figure out how to repair a carborator. The student can memorize the entire step by step process but the mechanic would probably do it faster.

Maybe that's a bad analogy. I just think w/ life in general intelligence and practicality don't go hand and hand, but sure as hell can't be determined from multiple choice.
Well, I don't really know how much importance teams place on it, but I know coaches like Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells put intelligence very high on their priority list. So I imagine those kind of coaches might put more weight on it than others. And it also depends on position. Obviously, you want your QB to be very intelligent. On the other hand, how smart does a DE need to be?

It's one tool among many to evaluate a player, even if it's not perfect. IMO, it should be up to teams to decide, not mandated by the league. Not sure what the league's motivation is, though it has been trending in the direction of the social justice crowd, which has been seeking to eliminate standardized testing for years and years.

Show me where anyone here calls it irreplaceable. Or crucial. That has not been the conversation at all.
No one used those words, sure.

The reaction and offense being taken sure made it seem the posters feel that way.
