It's sad to hear the trade news. Cooper Kupp-the heart of the Rams offense. He didn't have a big effect this past season as he has in the past. The Rams have Puka and Wittington which have similar characteristics as Kupp. The Rams compensated Kupp well over his 8 year career. His leadership and selfless in helping others will be missed.

Has anyone went back and watched the All-22 of the last six or so games of the Rams? Why wasn't Coop being involved in the offense? Was he injured? Has he just lost a step? He's one of my favorite Rams of all time. I watched him for years dominate the Big Sky Conference at Eastern Washington and remember the day the Rams drafted him. I was ecstatic. He's been a class act his entire time in L.A. and has become one of the faces of this franchise. This is sad day in Ram history.

Someone is going to get Kupp for a late round pick swap (6th or maybe 7th). Its going to hurt to see him wearing another teams colors.

Why do the Rams always give out the contracts that look bad on the back end? Kupp is 31 years old. No way should he have 30 million dollars of salary in the first place.
Restructures of his contract.

My assumption has been that he aggravated an injury and played through it. But it's possible he lost a step. Why am I assuming injury? He started the season with a 14 catch, 110 yard, and 1 TD effort against Detroit. He got hurt in Week 2. He came back in Week 7 and put up 37 receptions for 401 yards and 4 TDs over the next 5 games. And then he basically did nothing from the New Orleans game forward, except for a good performance against Buffalo and a solid game against the Eagles.

It's just weird that he'd go from putting up great production to being invisible over night. That's why I'm assuming he aggravated something, which sapped his explosiveness. But maybe age and wear and tear just caught up with him.

Gurley, Goff, Donald, and now Kupp.
Hated to see all these guys depart for various reasons.
Well, the Stafford trade eased things and worked for the best, but these guys changed our team in the McVay era.
Great times.
I hope Kupp has a great season wherever he ends up.

This is what I'm seeing. And yes, only if they trade him before the roster bonus kicks in.

From a business standpoint, I don't care if he can "continue to seek NFL championships" or not.
I'll trade him to the freaking Browns if they offer us the best deal.

Best case scenario for the other team, is one that has a bunch of cap space, and several young WRs that need a mentor type. He's very valuable in that role.

Yeah that's a big assumption they do it's due on 3/15 almost a month before the draft, safer imo to plan for the lower number. Safe to say we save the $12.5 million base pay but have to pay(simply account for it on the cap not actually pay) the remaining $8 million in signing bonus, the $9.3 million in restructure and the roster bonus is up in the air for $12.5 million. So right now he's slated for a $29.7 million cap hit but if he's traded after we have to pay out the roster bonus we're not saving anything really actually. If we pay the roster bonus the cap savings isn't until next year unless of course something is worked out on paying that bonus which reduces what we get for him.

Sadly, if they take all his salary, it will be worth it.

Ok I get your reasoning.

It is an assumption they'll be able to trade him before the league year starts. I was assuming they would because of the report that trading him prior to the bonus was a high priority for them. They may take less draft compensation to facilitate that.

I have faith in this organization, but their lack of loyalty to some players is a bit stunning

It actually is a form of loyalty in a lot of cases.

Look at Woods, Ramsey and Kupp.

Cooks was short term. Gurley I bet we tried to trade and couldn't. But Woods we worked with and got nothing for him. Ramsey we worked with him to be happy in Miami. Now Kupp will follow the same pattern.

I think most NFL players expect to play for multiple teams now. Think about the salary cap and the Christian Kirks of the world getting $18 million dollar contracts. We gave Kupp and Woods raises. Made Ramsey the highest paid DB ever.

In return, we have a standard. And hey, when you are no longer playing at that level - we will work with you to find a good place for you while making sure the contract we gave you stays intact.

It's part of the culture - doing right by the players is more important than holding out for high trade compensation, and it's impossible to argue the results of that.

Between your ROD handle and image, does this mean you will have to go with him?
I'm sure that would be a positive outcome for many, lol.

But.. no... in honor of the best season any Wide Receiver has had in NFL history... Imma keep it.

So.. does this increase the chances of them getting Tee Higgins? Or Darius Slayton?

The absolutely, positively need to add a couple of targets.
