Need a RB that break off a run longer than 15 yrds.

Yeah i understand all of that. I'm just going off what history has shown us. Mcvay doesn't play rookie rbs, and while he offers us depth, he won't see much playing time unless someone is injured. So to me he's just depth with more upside. I'd of rather them draft a DB and look for a potential starter over DK

I never feel like I know enough to grade the Rams drafts. Most of the McSnead years, they just pick the best fits for their systems - always providing surprises.

With that said, I find the immediate results (for 2025) to be underwhelming.

Ferguson looks good, but seems like he could have been had in the 3rd. Stewart seems a little bit like Nick Hampton - talented but potentially just too small. Hunter and Hamilton seem fine as depth pieces and Mumpfield seems like a flyer.

The only one I really, sincerely like is Paul Jr., who seems more like a third round pick.

Again, I never feel qualified to grade the draft but, for how we improve the team for this year, I'll repeat the word underwhelmed.

I came into the draft thinking that we could come out of day two with three pretty clear starters from picks 26, 90 and 101. I'm not sure what we actually received met that vision.

Finally, I really think that this draft has left us with the need to hit free agency again, seeking a third OT, a starting corner (Ramsey?), a number five or six wide receiver and a depth safety.

I expect Stewart to win the starting role at some point. BY has games where he's a fucking beast, but he disappears too much for my taste. I think adding Stewart was about finding more consistency off that other edge. So at some point, somewhere in the midseason, Stewie will take charge of the most important edge role (rush downs) and we'll see BY play the early snap and contain role and rotation to keep the other two fresh.

That`s actually a good point. I was thinking Stewart would just be a situational player, but he very well could get starter reps because of his run stopping prowess.

Most of these guys look to be role players and future starters. Keep in mind McVay doesn't like to start rookies at almost any position.
Ferguson should be next years starting TE, Hunter could split carries with Corum next year.
The Dline guys should all get rotation play this year.
The only one with a chance of starting at some point is Paul at LB. But I think Speights and the guy from the Texans will start the season there.
This years team didn't have many starting spots up for grabs like the last two seasons team did.
And I hope the ATL pick is top 5 so we can grab a QB next year.
Overall I give it a B until we see how everything turns out.

From what I can understand:

Ferguson TE. A-. Big fast tough. Gotta like it.
Stewart ED. A- Small fast tough relentless, takes on blockers. Fierce!
Hunter RB. B+ Short, thick, super strong legs, fast. Sounds hard to tackle and can run.
Hamilton DT. B We've tried undersized DTs before, worked out OK. Tackles well.
Paul LB. A. Small but fast, can cover, has range, tackles. Perfect match with Speights.
Mumpfield. C+? Gotta trust McSnead on this one I guess.
UDFAs: Dolac A, Valcorcel, Lampkin, Edwards maybe . .
2026 1st: A+. Wow major score.
No backup OLT: D. Do they think Leviston can do it? They must have a plan here. ??
Averall: A-, considering what they had to work with (no #2).

Man are we lucky to have McSnead running the show.
With their resources, they know 10x what media draftniks do.
Their picks aren't known names but they prove out pretty darn well, don't they?

BC.

Players/Talent: A-

Flashiness: D

Kind of a boring and blah class without much flash, but when you don't have any DIRE needs you just grab the players you love regardless of position and they did.

I will say, not drafting a CB tells me they have a deal in place or are close to one for Jalen Ramsey.

DK...

"he was never good to begin with"....

yeah mcvay, what the fucks wrong with you???

stop putting kendrick on the opponents #1 receiver... mcvay, you need to clue up you dipshit...

you too demarco, SAYING YOU'LL BE GLAD TO SEE HIM BACK...you need to listen to those that know something...

WE WATCH THE GAMES AND KNOW OUR SHIT!!!

yeah jacob ... you know your shit with all that gameday watching on the tube...

i'll trust my eyes that watch the same thing, and for some stupid reason, are in line with the head coach and staff, not some thread poster... and i know you're not the only one on here that hopes he never comes back....

i'm casting my lot with sean and demarco..

go DK... hope your knee is fully recovered...

go rams

slo

i gotta add a ps.

DK does make a lot of boneheaded moves that i think are because he plays so physical, and the wiley vets eventually get into his head, or get away with a unseen penalty and DK gets caught with the retaliation, or just loses it and it's always at the worst time...

i keep hoping they would get that part of his game cleaned up... we'll see

we don't need his penalties at the worst time...
i've had to eat more crow on here because of his penalties than his play...

I’m resigned to the fact, that if the Rams went with my picks then I should be the GM for the Rams. And if I was GM for the Rams, I would be very disappointed in the Rams.

OT is a major concern compared to CB with or without Ramsey. We need a swing tackle, don't we? What am I forgetting? Maybe we signed someone and it failed to register?

Still have to watch some film when I get some time later in the week.

But I feel like we got too cute.

Ferguson seems like a jag that goes down when barely touched.

Stewart might get washed out by bigger defenders like he did at the senior bowl.

I hope I am wrong.

I guess I wanted Simmons or one of the many CB’s there for the taking.

Feels like the Tutu over Creed pick.

Right now the Rams depth (as far as I can tell) has Acuri at LT, Dedich and Leveston at G, Limmer and McMahon at C and McClendon at RT. I too would have liked a swing T at least. But, I would not really want that over any of the draft picks except the last pick. But, that would be a development T at that point anyway.
I like Dedich and Limmer. McClendon has been hit and miss. Can see some potential at RT but the Rams need to add more at both T spots.
They added Wedig as an undrafted free agent. He has the size at 6’-7” 320. He’s already a good run blocker. Maybe they can develop him into a good tackle

Getting that #1 next year makes it an A. Consider if we had our full complement of picks our draft would be worth about 1250 points which is about what the 12th pick in the draft is worth. Atlanta needs to suck it bad this year.

Ferguson leading college TEs (30 receptions or more) in YAC yards sorta suggests otherwise. I did have that concern with Arroyo though. Good speed, but no wiggle.

I was on the Simmons train, too, if cleared medically. But that waned a bit when I heard about the maturity/character concerns.

Loved it.

Started off shaky -- used a premium pick on a TE who appears to be little different from the JAGs we already have.

But I really liked every pick thereafter. Love Stewart -- quick, nasty and a leader. Chris Paul was an absolute steal and fills a big need. Hunter looks like he can add some speed to the run game. Hamilton provides depth at DL.

Throw in a #1 next year, in a deep and strong class, and I give it an A- overall.

How cool is it gonna be next year after the Rams win the Super Bowl and draft Day 1 they have pick #32 and the Atlanta 1st. Fans from every team will really hate us next year lol.

Which Rams rookies can start right away?

Examining each rookie’s opportunity to crack the starting lineup
By Steven Ridings Apr 27, 2025, 5:05pm CDT
The Los Angeles Rams 2025 draft class is set after an exciting three day weekend in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Rams added six new members to their roster and they are:

Terrance Ferguson, TE, Oregon

Josiah Stewart, EDGE, Michigan

Jarquez Hunter, RB, Auburn

Ty Hamilton, DT, Ohio State

Chris Paul Jr, ILB, Ole Miss

Konata Mumpfield, WR, Pittsburgh

It was a busy weekend for Les Snead and Sean McVay, as they wielded four trades (three on Day 3). Now with their draft work complete, all eyes turn to the competition on the field as the team prepares for the 2025-2026 season.
The Rams did not have any glaring holes entering the draft, but that doesn’t mean one of these rookies can’t grab a starting spot from a veteran. So let’s look at each rookie’s chances of starting in the 2025 season..

Terrance Ferguson
Ferg will join a crowded TE room that consists of Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, and Davis Allen. The starting job belongs to Higbee. However, Higbee is nearing the end of his career and may miss time here and there. Ferguson’s best chances of seeing the field is to win the TE2 job against Parkinson. But players transitioning from college to the NFL, the learning curve for a TE can be steep. It does not help that the weakest part of Ferguson’s game is his blocking ability - a huge factor for a Sean McVay offense.
Chances of starting: 3/10
Josiah Stewart
The Rams used their third round pick on an edge rusher which came as a surprise to some. To me, this was an excellent pick, because the Rams needed to fill Michael Hoecht’s role after he departed for the Buffalo Bills. Not only that, I do think Byron Young can be pushed for his starting role. Even if he doesn’t beat out BY, Stewart is likely to see meaningful snaps when the Rams deploy their ““Cheetah” - 5 man rush packages.

Chances of Starting: 5/10
Jarquez Hunter
It was only a matter of time until the Rams used one of their picks to select a running back. They traded up to start Day 3; selecting Jarquez Hunter. Hunter will have the opportunity to learn from Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. A rookie running back has to yet to start the year for Sean McVay and it would take a lot for Hunter to buck that trend. Hunter is probably a year away from seeing the field with the offense.

Chances of starting: 0.5/10
Ty Hamilton
Hamilton was a part of a second trade up by Les Snead on Saturday afternoon. With Bobby Brown III and Neville Gallimore departing in free agency, LA added to its defensive front. Los Angeles did sign Poona Ford at the start of free agency. As it stands now, Ford, Turner, and Fiske look to be the starters. Tyler Davis will also likely see the field as a rotational player. I think Hamilton gets on the field albeit at a limited rate.
Chances of starting: 2/10
Chris Paul Jr
If anyone from the rookie class has the best shot to start it will be CPJ. Omar Speights, Troy Reeder, and Nate Landman are currently rostered, but none of them jump off the page with their play. If Paul Jr can show versatility early (defending run & pass), he will increase his odds. Reeder’s struggles show up in pass coverage. While Speights was bullied by the Eagles offensive line in both games last year.

Chances of starting: 5.5/10
Konata Mumpfield
LA used its final pick, a seventh rounder on Pittsburgh wideout - Konata Mumpfield. Mumpfield is probably prioritizing a 53 man roster spot rather than trying to crack the starting lineup altogether. He features to be WR5 or WR6 depending on how McVay views Xavier Smith.
Chances of starting: 0/10
Of course there will be undrafted free agents competing for spots, so these guys have to fight off another batch of competition as well. Can’t wait for Rams training camp!

I expect Paul to start quickly. Stewart probably wins that third down role by midseason. Ferguson and Hamilton will be vying for roles initially (Flex TE2 & early down run stuffer). Hunter we'll see (teams and maybe a third down role), but I think Williams and Corum are a tough 1-2 to unseat for a rook as they are steeped in the offense. Mumpfield just make the team dude.

Hunter requires a crash course on how to pass protect for Matthew. That is the only way he sees the field. You cannot! have a piss-poor rookie pass blocker placing your future Hall of Fame QB at risk!!!
