We said the same thing about Suh last year... we'll see how FA shakes out in a few months...

I don't think Wade is going to want to spend big money on a guy who isn't as valuable in his scheme. Wade doesn't use a true FS or SS. He wants his safeties to play interchangeably. I don't see us going after somebody expensive. And I agree with that approach. There were some quality safeties available this past off-season for pennies on the dollar.

True.

I honestly don't know.

Earl Thomas is a first ballot HoFer who has several years of Pro Bowl play left, imho.

Be awfully hard to say no if he's amenable to a reasonable deal. It's not like Thomas is an unwilling tackler and we know JJIII is better with his hands than Joyner, so pairing JJIII with Thomas would be BEAST.

That said, you're absolutely right that there are other options almost certainly a lot cheaper.

As I said, once we get into the off-season and find out who's likely coming back, it'll be easier to see what the deal is with FAs at which positions...

I agree that he'll probably be too expensive. But adding ANY safety who can play deep or in the box to this defense would be an enormous addition. And maybe more of an impact than a good ILB for next to Littleton.

IMO Rams gonna go hard after safety in FA, there are a few other possibilities other than him.

Must. Fight. Temptation.

Not trying to talk about the off-season like it's here.

We have a SUPER BOWL to win. THEN...the off-season.

Let's not jinx this, folks.

And at least half of the first week, if not longer, will be dwelling on that one no-call... /hurk

Only our resident Aints fans tbh. The butthurt will be strong lmao.

There are definitely some intriguing options out there. I might make a play for Tyrann Mathieu. He's reportedly wanting to play for a contender. I think Earl Thomas will most likely want to play in Dallas. That's always been what he has said. There are some interesting cheaper options out there like Eric Reid, Morgan Burnett, Glover Quin, and Darian Stewart. We could also go after a safety in the Draft.

There's some truth to that. I just think that Thomas likely ends up in Dallas and we likely aren't looking to pony up for him.

Yeah I think Mathieu could be really good under Wade. He's good all around and Wade would put him in great position. On that list he's the guy I want for upside/cost.

Also have guys like Clinton Dix (surprised me he was 26 btw) and a couple other younguns with the Bears & Giants that may not be kept around. Plus safeties tend to not be as pricey as our other needs. :D

Yep, that's the big benefit of signing a safety. The only thing I'm not sure of is if the Rams will want to pursue a guy who isn't released. It seems like they like collecting comp picks.

.

That was the absolute worst play of the game. What kind of safety sees the ball coming towards him, sees the wr coming towards the ball and decides to let the ball come to him instead of attacking the ball?

I wonder if his ears turned red because I'm certain every rams fan on the face of the earth was letting him have it.

1 week after stopping Zeke on a 4th and 1 and Joyner is turrrible again.

Whatevs. I am too busy enjoying wins to pick apart how we almost lost.
I used to do that all the time when we did always lose.
The way I see it, there will be time after this season to hate on some of the guys who helped get us back to the Super Bowl.

Joyner is just not seeing the ball this year. I clapped and screamed so loud on that play I made my 6 year old daughter cry lol.

Peters and crew shut down Thomas for 3 catches for 46 yards and 1 catch after the first quarter, how bout some love for Peters.

I'm banned from watching live sports when the kids are in the house... I've made all 4 cry at some point...

Joyner was a missed PI call away or even 3x run calls by Payton away from being the reason we lost that game. Nothing whatevs about that tbh. He's hurt us all season long, and he needs to do better in this next game.
