Rapp has been lights out too when given the chance. He's struggled a couple of times against Kittle, but it's Kittle

Yeah, that's what McVay said. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought when Rapp has played this year it was pretty much as a hybrid safety/LB. Also when on the field he was out there with Weddle and JJ.

JJ has struggled a bit this season, hasn't made that step up I expected him to make. But either way it sucks to lose him because at some point in this season I figured we'd have three plus safeties prowling the middle. What a damn shame.

I think Rapp is ready to step right in to JJ's role tbh. The toughest part for most SS in the NFL is the coverage responsibilities and he's been doing a great job in coverage overall for a young safety. What I dislike is Christian is back on the field for more snaps so hopefully they keep him near the LOS he couldn't cover Wade Phillips.
