I dunno, I like the hiring. The Jets are in need of a strong hand, which he has. And, loathe as I am to say it, the Niners defense has been really good at adjusting to game conditions on the fly during his tenure. I saw someone above say he might be Matt Patricia, but Patricia never proved himself to be a game manager at all in New England.

And lord knows the AFC Least needs all the help it can get in its quest to, for once this century, have more than 1 team that's even remotely respectable in any given year.
We will find out soon enough.
I'm not taking anything away from Saleh, but the whiners defense has been stacked with talent as well.

What good news for the Rams! Saleh had McVay/Goff’s number, glad he is out of the division. Wish we could have said our goodbyes with a win over him though.

Save the 2 years of the Gase Daze, the Jets have continued the trend of hiring defensive coaches despite having terrible offense. I dont see this going well. And selfishly speaking, I was so tired of seeing Saleh on the 49ers sideline, him getting a HC job would get him out of my view. Now he's in NY, Ill be seeing him all over the joint

Eff that. We needed to destroy those bastards with that guy as DC. The demons can't be killed. It's like beating the Pats without the Cheat AND Tommy.

Good news for the Rams! Bad news for the Whiners!!!

He was the glue of that team between the players and the coaches. Now the players are going to have to deal with Shanny's personality.

Every head coach hire that is not Staley is good news.
Maybe Saleh really was the thorn in our side, we really need to beat the 49ers next year at least once, it has been humiliating the last two years
I haven't ever thought of Saleh as a slam-dunk elite DC. I think him having our number had more to do with their talent up front (which consistently destroys our OL) than his grasp of scheme. So whatever the 9ers do at the coordinator position what is most important for the Rams is improving the OL.

It's sort of like what Fish had going vs Sneaky Pete, the defensive front that would blow up everything they try to do.

But don't get me wrong, I'm glad he's gone and I expect he'll be a really good head coach. Here's a recent article where he talks coaching philosophy and IMO he's got a good handle on it. Here's hoping he pulls a talented coach or three from that SF staff too.

Bringing his one trick pony show of showing defenders how to clamp a WR illegally but so quickly the refs can't see it. Been going on since his days at Seattle. With Sherman leaving and this nonsense leaving we should have easier sledding ahead.

Any DB worth his grain of salt has known this skill since college. If you think Ramsey is the best corner in the league and doesn’t do this, you’re kidding yourself. With that said, I’m glad he’s gone, but I’m now kind of nervous they have a chance to find their own Staley...

With both Wentz and Darnold staying put, that makes Watson even more of a hot commodity.

But with him holding literally ALL of the cards, we'll see if anyone gets something done. It could be a record setting deal or it could be something else including them trying to mend fences.

What looked like a whole lot of "we're going out!" turned into "Nah... we're just gonna stay home and watch a movie"

Which coaches does Robert Saleh take with him to New York?
Mike LaFleur may not be the only coach headed to the Big Apple

The 49ers have just taken the biggest hit to their coaching staff that they’re going to take this off-season, but it doesn’t mean they’ve taken their last one. Reports about Mike LaFleur leaving with Saleh surfaced at almost the same time as news of Saleh’s agreement with the Jets, but could there be other names that make the jump as well? Kyle Posey and I discussed Saleh’s departure from every possible angle in today’s Niners Nation Podcast.

“I’d imagine that we haven’t seen the end,” Kyle said, “I just don’t feel like this is it. He has to fill out a bunch of assistants. Not just coordinator positions, he has to fill out an entire staff. So to think that he’s only going to take one coach from the staff is a bit naive. And again he’s probably been in talks with Lynch and Kyle about that for over months now.”

It still surprises me that the 49ers lost more coaches after a 6-10 season than they did after going to the Super Bowl, but here we are.

In my mind, the biggest loss would be Defensive Line Coach Kris Kocurek, who has transformed the 49ers’ D-line since he’s arrived. It’s not an accident that they improved by 11 sacks in 2019 once he got the gig. Also, see Hyder, Kerry’s performance this year. Again, in my opinion due to Kocurek.

A lot of that as we know is timing. Can't fully interview until after a team is out of the playoffs. You can get one and this year it's only tele conference type of interview. Plus he's had another season to impress GM/Owner types same thing IMO will happen with Staley after this year.
