I wonder how TuTu would do on Kickoff returns???? We are really not utilizing him anywhere else.
They've never used him in that role.
I would say they would consider him too small to take big hits.....probably true. But, the Rams had a similarly sized punt returner not too far in the past who went on to the Vikings.
I don't see Tutu being used on kicks however.

Ya.... you're right

I'd hate to see him get knocked silly like the Giants kickoff returner on Monday Night.... TuTu would have landed on the sidelines with that type of hit. :woozy2:

Young’s the best edge. Noticeably outplaying Verse. No way he leaves.

His $25-30 million extension would hit first - I would be pretty shocked if we re-sign him.

And noticeably is pushing it - he has better sack numbers, but pressure seems similar or better by Verse when watching them.

Really gonna be interesting with Verse, he's probably about as good as he was last year if you factor in an uptick of double teams this year (think 20ish to almost 40 percent) but he just hasn't really found at least one counter that helps him when he's either doubled or tackles know the bullrush is coming. He needs to take another step but I suspect he will. Young is benefiting from slightly less attention and has really refined his rush but it's taken him time too.

Think Verse is still the long term play along with spending on interior of line so think it's not likely we resign Young in the end with what he'll get on open market if he keeps this up.

My guess would be pass protection. If Hunter allowed Stafford to take a big shot, nobody would be ok with him being in the game.
We were talking about this Topic at the stadium before the game. We all Came down to the same conclusion of Corum is better than Hunter in Protection, and Kyren is better than both by a large margin. However, Kyren is banged up, and we might see a bit more of Corum for awhile. Rivers is Return man with Jordan Whittington. That Duo seems to work on Returning. Keep Corum and Kyren Off Special Teams for fuck Sake. If Hunter cant even make it to Special teams, Theres another problem with him outside of just protection issues. This is Why Rivers is On the team and Hunter always inactive.

Rivers looked like a man on a mission on his kick returns.
Outside of his first return, I was unimpressed with Rivers on returns. It looked like he was seeking defenders after that first return.

I'd like to think Hunter is an ideal kick/punt returner. Good size/speed/strength and more wiggle then Rivers IMO.

This sounds about right on the double team numbers. Per PFF, Verse is doubles 37% of the time and chipped 12% of his pass rush snaps. Young is 30% and 12% respectively. That's actually a closer disparity than I thought.

Both of them are league leaders in their pressures causing turnovers.

Verse may have more potential to tap into so I agree he's the long-term play if you're choosing between them.

But I'm not so sure that that's the choice. I'm starting to wonder if it's between extending Young versus Turner. And I'm wondering if they don't want more interior pass rush than what Turner provides. Who knows what the Rams are thinking, but I don't think it's an obvious play to extend Turner over Young.

Because the 2 edge rushers come up for contracts in different years, I think, as long as one or the other doesn't get crazy with contract demands, both will get signed. The Rams are not in the habit of paying DBs big bucks. MLBs either. They feel they can coach them up, scheme them up as long as they have a good pass rush. So they will pay the Dline and edge LBs. That being said, I don't think at this time we have elite anything on D. So I don't think you will see top dollar to any of them. Elite pressure isn't translating to elite sack numbers and that is what will cost the most.
The fact is while McVay will say stats are for losers, the stats are what get you paid.

Hope to see JH some day but he has to prove he can block. How about some love for Ronny Rivers though. He always does his job well. 4.0 ypc average in his short career and no fumbles. Nice return last week. When JH can exceed that he can get on the field. Not hurting too much currently with Kyren and Blake though either. No urgency here?

Young and Turner are due for extensions in the same year. Verse qualifies one year later.

Do you think we'll sign Young and Turner. One can hope...

Totally, and there's a year and change before that's even a discussion.

Wait, before what is a discussion? Both Turner and Young qualify for early extensions this offseason, and with their production I'm pushing for it if I'm their agent.
