I liked Hendricks, but he was with Rams for 5 seasons, best two were his first two. Hendricks comparison is faulty

Well you can't compare Higbee to the other guys Jacobarch mentioned above either. Those guys are athletically gifted and have good hands. Higbee might be athletic but his hands are suspect.

You know, Higbee seemed to be coming into his own the last 5-6 weeks. He has made a lot of good grabs during that stretch, like on the last drive of the Hawks game where he made a clutch catch for a big gain with time running out.

Then, he goes and drops everything under the sun at the Vikes. Really disappointing!!!

My gripe is just the inconsistency he is showcasing, he needs to show he is the #1 TE.

I agree Goff is tough. That question has been answered.

I discount most of this positive review of Goff, when I can't find one reference to his being a 2-read (in some cases less) QB at this stage of his development. I'm fairly sure this will improve, and he's shown signs of it already on plays earlier this season, but most of the time it is as if he is counting on the design of the play and his read on the D (pre-snap) to determine where he's going before the snap and doesn't seem to adjust.

The perfect example of this is when he throws deep into triple coverage (if Woods doesn't make a great defensive play, it's an INT) while Gurley is in the flat with NOBODY in front of him. It's anywhere from a 25 yard gain to a TD with a simple flick of the wrist and he never even gazes his way. This is my problem with Goff. Keeping fingers crossed he improves quickly, because we will never move the ball consistently when teams realize they just have to fool him pre-snap.
People keep talking about that one play, but one thing I noticed is that Whitworths man jumps left, when i think we expected him to go after Gurley on the fake, meaning Gurley was meant to relieve pressure on that play. They didn't bite and Goff had no time to look for another open receiver.

I've noticed that he tends to have difficult time coming down with contested balls and you need a TE that can catch those contested balls in the red zone.

.

Higbee got blown up by a db and pushed back into Gurley's path.

Can't block, can't catch a ball if a defender is breathing on him. What can he do?

Watch how the media turns it into, Goff is trash, Gurley is the reason why they win. Goff is just game-manager who rides on Gurleys back. This game ticked me off so much, McVay was the reason why we lost this game. He was completely oblivious to what was happening last night. The defense couldn't stop them, and he kept giving them the ball back. Thelien was exposing the rookie, the pass rush was embarassing last night, and to top it all off, you don't even give Goff the chance to make something.. anything happen on 4th down all freaking game.... It made me sick to my stomach, and I still cannot get over it. As I was watching the Vikings-Redskins game last week, Gruden called two horseshit run plays in a row in the most important moment of the game(it was after the second pick Case threw, the defense game them a chance). If the franchise believed in Cousins, I have no doubt in my mind Gruden would have been fired after that game for that crap. In my mind, I was thinking, man I wonder if McVay would be stupid enough to do this crap next week against the Vikings, if they were in that situation, and there you freaking go, he does it too, like a jackass.
I get the emotion but I’m done explaining the rules here. Chill out on calling players bums and coaches jackasses, etc.

That was a bad read by Goff for sure. But the play was designed to go deep. Combine that with having a half second to get the ball off before being crushed, I can’t totally blame him.
And if Goff isnt hit, Woods runs right by the deep safety

yeah but when he threw it into triple coverage my first thought was if 3 players were on woods other players had to be open. if he wanted to go deep sammy was the better option. he should have at least seen that.

anyway, it's something for him to put in the memory bank. 5 players back deep, look for gurley straight away.

all these videos are actually making me feel better. it shows that on alot of the plays it was just poor execution. the running plays just needed better blocking from tes and wrs and on passing plays jared missing an open guy. every game he will improve in that area.

that plus the fumble on the one yard line and a crucial drop on 3rd down from kupp on the cusp of their red zone shows the rams weren't far off winning that game. the young guys will improve as they get more experience. i reckon they can beat them if they have to play them again in the playoffs.

I sorta like the Goff / Wentz comparisons -- especially considering both are playing so well -- we're gonna watch these guys battle it out for Championships for the next 15 years
yeah right, you better go under ground in a few weeks if you dont like the comparisons because the media is going to play the Goff #1 vs. Wentz #2 to the hilt!

Um because it's true, and i did some digging to show you.

I based it on getting around 800 or more yards receiving or 8 or more TD's on the year.

Jordan Reed - didn't break out until his third season
Greg Olsen - 5 years
Tyler Eifert - 3rd year
Kyle Rudolph - 6th year
Jason Witten - 3rd year
Zach Ertz - 3rd year.

TE's that broke out in their rookie years

Jimmy Graham
Gronk

What do both of these players have in common? They have arguably two of the best QB's that have ever played the game throwing them ball. Not to mention they are freaks of nature.

Next.
It shouldn't take 3 years to learn how to catch the ball.

Probably because people like Waldman who dig deep into the tape don't reference things that are obviously incorrect.

Nah. Sammy was a much worse option. He had Rhodes in his hip pocket trailing him across the field, he had LBs underneath, and Waynes was over the top. That would have been a tougher throw for Goff.

the deep safety was tracking the ball. he would have been there no matter where the ball ended up.

.

Goff was betting on him being able to throw it far enough that Woods could run under it. I'm taking Woods over Harrison Smith in that situation. Problem is that he got hit and couldn't get enough on it. If he had been able to throw it the 60+ yards it required, I feel good about Woods winning the footrace.

Watching the play again actually makes me feel a lot better about it. Gurley was wide open, but Goff couldn't have known that. Based on the pre-snap look, Terrance Newman should have been there to pick Gurley up, but he made a mistake. Goff didn't have enough time to see that with the free blitzer coming his way.

not really. put it out in front of him towards the sideline and let him chase it. he's always gonna beat rhodes in a foot race. waynes dropped off early sensing he was gonna go woods.

smith had 5 yards on woods before he slowed down to intercept the ball. nobody was beating him deep on that play.
