IMO he's going to need time. Just for a moment place yourself in his shoes. First, he went from not having to call an offensive play call, or very seldom, in college, to having to ramble off a paragraph long play. As we've seen on Hark Knocks, it has been extremely difficult for him to process at times. So, now he has to think even more about the play, not to mention, having to make sure guys are lined up correctly, making o-line calls, pre-snap read of the defense, etc. When he has to think more, everything gets magnified that much more and his read/reaction time is messed up. I'm as frustrated as most that he should be showing more at this point, but I also thought he had a huge learning curve coming in. Give the kid time. I'm sure his head is spinning constantly trying to process everything. The worst thing we can do right now is force him into the starting role when he can't comprehend what's going on around him. His playbook should be scaled down until he masters it then add more as he shows he can handle it. But, he needs to continue getting reps with the first unit so he can build his confidence.
