And how would the Steelers know the Rams were out? Because we or Miami would have told them? You don’t think Miami used “other interest” as leverage?

All it takes is a phone call to verify. "Hey Les, the Dolphins are saying your still in on Ramsey. Is that true?". GMs are friendly enough. They aren't enemies. Coaches are friendly with each other. I don't think the Dolphins would bargain on bad faith like that, when its easy to verify.

People can dispute my theory. But the funny thing is that they will have exactly as much insight and information as I have presented.
Which is why the most concrete thing to go off of is Breer's report. The good reporters have reliable sources. That's how they build their reputation and get to the top.

If it was some no name reporter then I won't pay much attention. But when its a top dog, I lean toward trusting the report.

I swear this place turns into a sewing circle this time of year. Some of you will bicker over fucking ANYTHING.

Also, Ramsey was beat like a rented mule on the final play of SB56. AD did AD things and saved the Rams season.

Argue with a paint sprayer....

So the GMs would be friendly to one while screwing the other. Huh. I just don’t see that scenario.

It also could have very easily been, I think we’re out, but if the deal falls through, give us a call.

The only way I see the Rams telling Pittsburgh that they’re out, is if they’re trying to get Pitt to low ball Miami so they can put in a Rams friendly offer
OR if they don’t really have any interest in trying to sign Ramsey anyway. If they informed Pitt, I highly suspect it was the latter.

I really don’t think GM and front office relationships between teams is all that contentious. I’ve watched GMs talking trades on draft day. It seems pretty friendly and laid back.

The only person I ever hear talking about tricking teams is Asshole Face and that’s actually hilarious because it doesn’t sound like he actually tricked anyone.

Even the best reporters play connect the dots - especially when they know no one is going to officially refute their story. A reporter really has nothing to lose on these kinds of stories. But if they are repeatedly cited by others in media, they are getting clicks and looks. That’s primarily how they are making their money these days.

The Rams are not going to reveal any of the negotiations and neither were the Steelers or the phins. Breer could have easily heard the Rams gave Miami a call as soon as the word that Ramsey wanted out hit the presses. I’m sure the Rams did call them at that point or maybe Miami contacted Les as soon as Ramsey made his position known.

Did they go much deeper into negotiations than that? Who knows. But from what our organization was saying, it didn’t look like they were taking it all that seriously - probably from sticker shock and realizing they were not going to go anywhere near where other teams might.

Ramsey has made it clear that he loved his time with the Rams. The Rams are known for the “all in” narrative. Les is known for making bold moves. The league knows Les is not afraid to pick up the phone and test the waters. The entire media and most of the fan base consider our CB room to be a glaring weakness. Connect the dots.

Of course it is - or at least what they want to show. But it’s not like they’re conferencing in another team unless they’re working on a multi-team deal. Notice that when you see those conversations, there are absolutely no details given unless it’s letting people know they’re out or that it’s a deal - AFTER we already know the outcome. It’s not like we’re seeing that stuff while the negotiations are ongoing. That is what you’re insinuating Breer is getting - inside information WHILE negotiations are happening. I don’t buy it unless someone wants to lose their job or access.

And yet you are bringing up the argument over the Ramsey play.

Double standard?

According to Jordan, in a podcast posted somewhere on this board about 2 weeks ago, she said that the Rams would like to get Ramsey, but it wouldn't happen until training camp and the Dolphins lowered their expectations. They were in a wait and see mode. I wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers new that as well. So the Steelers made the deal knowing the Rams wouldn't be willing to beat it.

Yes the Rams were in the mix the whole time, but only at their price. I don't think they were surprised by the out come.
