If Jeanty is sitting there at 26 then McVay will be doing back flips and sprinting with the card to the podium
That's a pipe dream we all have, but truly doubt it.

jrry, what is your reasoning for using FA for defense and drafting for offense and not the other way around?

~ArkyRamsFan~
The lack of talent in FA on offense where we have needs. The TE FA Class is terrible. Kylen Granson is the only one who is remotely interesting imo. And he's purely a shot in the dark. The WR FA Class isn't as bad, but the only guy who isn't old or coming off a serious injury (who is proven) is Tee Higgins. And he's going to cost an arm and a leg. Josh Palmer is an interesting guy who could be a value proposition, but he doesn't help with our lack of explosiveness on offense.

I see better options at our positions of need on the defensive side of the ball.

Under 20 points in more than a third of the regular season games?
Unacceptable for a McVay offense.

Yes, the OL was banged up for a while and it took over half of the season to get what would be our best 5 out there, but there were other issues.

Mostly, it was a lack of weapons and speed. Kupp missed time and lost a gear. Atwell was our only speedster but was rarely used unless Kupp and Nacua were out. He won’t be coming back in ‘25. Why would he want to?

The absence of Higbee opened the door for someone to step up. Instead, it showed a bottom tier group. I can’t believe the Rams had to throw the ball to Hunter Long. Parkinson wasn’t used much and certainly failed to justify his price tag. He was supposed to be AT LEAST a guy who was used primarily as a blocker in Seattle, but his blocking wasn’t all that. I’ve been pulling for Davis Allen, but he lacked consistency. I’m not sure he understood the nuances of route running and he missed enough blocks to warrant concern.
He’ll be entering his 3rd camp this summer and I would like to hear some positive buzz around him. As banged up and near the end of his career as Higby was supposed to be, he transformed the position instantly upon his return. That did not bode well for the three fill-ins.

Whether it’s by FA or draft (preferred), the Rams are in need of a speedy WR big enough to play on the outside and a TE to open up the offense.

As for the OL, AJ has to be re-signed or it opens up a problem not easily solved. A Tackle would still be needed to be the swing Tackle with starting potential to develop.

So that’s 3 positions the Rams need to address and we haven’t even looked at a possible successor to Stafford or a possible upgrade over KW/BC at RB.
I agree with your assessment 100% , looking at the playoff teams they all had that one guy who was willing and able to make the plays you need to win. Stafford can still be that guy especially in the playoffs but it’s a lot to ask for him to do it all year.
The Rams can follow the Chiefs blueprint by winning with scheme more than talent but they don’t have an all world guy at the top.
No one knows why Tutu never turned into more of a weapon but they definitely need a more explosive element. People have been wanting to upgrade from Higbee for a while but another half second and he’s the reason they’re moving on.
Les has his work cut out for him but I wouldn’t put it past him.

We need a stud CB and I don't care if we do that through draft or FA but we need to spend good capital on it one way or another. Other than that, defense is solid. Could use another LB'er but that can be had in later rounds or mid range free agent. The rest can be spent on refreshing the offense.

The Titans are rebuilding, would you send a 3rd round pick to them for Jarius Sneed if he's available? He would be our # 1 CB.

I think Diggs for the right price would be a guy I would add to the Godwin, Higgins talk.
It really depends on how our board looks and who they can get in FA

There are FA starters at LB, CB, OL, & WR in FA as it stands but many will resign with present team and others will be overpaid

A lot to happen before I commit, I think we are still a BPA at a position of need team.

RB is the interesting one, if you have explosive players at WR you can have a productive not so explosive KW but I think McVay was licking his chops watching Barkley this year.
A homerun threat RB has got to interest him, but you can create a winning offensive formula in different ways.

It is going to be one of the better off-season's through FA and the draft due to our development this past season

I'm of the opinion we need two more pass catchers for this offense wherever they come from. I suspect Kupp's gone and even if we sign Robinson he's always been a B player (B+ at times).

Those two pass catchers can come from any of the WR, TE and RB positions.

And ideally at least one provides explosiveness to the offense.

I believe that that the entire skill position group needs rebuilt/shuffled. Nacua being the foundation.
I seriously doubt this can be done in one offseason.

Nacua and Whittington return. Find speed + decent size + explosives to add to the room.

Blow up the TE room. Idk the financials on Higbee. He’s my TE2 at this stage. Draft a guy who demands some attention beyond 5 yards.

Blow up the RB room. Kyren is my RB2 or possibly Blake if there’s a market for Kyren. A killer weapon needed here.

We need to get back to having a couple scary weapons on offense. This entire group was a tough and physical but plodding group who couldn’t run away from anyone.

I’m sure McVay and company know this. It’s not a revelation nor is my post.
