Nick Foles is..... okay. No more, no less.
For all his faults, he at least has the balls to push the ball down field. I don't think fans should hastily overlook that quality. Far too many mediocre QBs are conservative to a fault (Bradford, Smith). You can definitely win with a QB of Foles' calibre if the rest of your team is up to standard. We now have the defense to do it. Now we need more play-makers on offense and, more importantly, a competent offensive line. Until we get an o-line that can open up holes for the running game we are going nowhere fast.
My fear is that when (if.....) our offensive line finally develops, our defensive players will all need new contracts, and so we'll remain stuck in mediocrity.
Unlike most, I actually like the idea of being a "run first" team and don't think the game has passed Fisher by. Winning on the back of a strong defence and running game, with an unspectacular QB and offensive roster, is definitely viable today IMO. See: Seattle. I think it's definitely better than taking the more popular approach of crossing your fingers for years on end while praying you snag a world beater QB like Brady or Manning. Those guys rarely come along. How many highly drafted QB prospects actually become an Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees?! And then you have to suffer through several crappy seasons to even have the "privilege" of rolling the dice by drafting them. I'd rather build up the rest of the roster. The problem with Fisher is he cannot evaluate offensive talent to save his life.
