Yeah, not sure how they can contend in 23' without retooling which means having cap room to retain their own key FAs, while also bringing in help on the Oline. More confident in that approach as opposed of crossing their fingers that some unproven OL guys can stay healthy and play well.

If releasing Wagner & Floyd, moving Ramsey for picks, and restructuring Kupp, means that they can keep Gaines, Scott, & Gay, as well as adding two quality OL, a solid TE, and drafting some speed for the defense, then that plan makes them a better team in 23' and 24'.

If they really are gonna go that route, which seems necessary to restock the pond, they need to try and re-sign ARob as well. I recently rewatched all of the post season during the SB run. I know Gaines is more versatile (every down) but ARob was an absolutely immovable force vs the run down the stretch and peaked during the SB.

IF the main objective at this point is to #1-Dig, scrap & find as much cap relief & #2-Beef up 2023 DRAFT assets then finding trading partner efforts for the next 2 months is a must.

One element that I see very plain with this present defense is has NOW the DL'ers with some good ability to run a solid 43 D but not a 34 D.

31 yr old Veteran Leonard Floyd has constantly entered the past seasons with serious ailments & injuries plus rehabbing from minor surgeries.

Not sure just how much the Rams can clear from a trade of LF but his contract mandates close to $25 million for the next 2 seasons 2023/2024. Spotrac says that a pre- June 1st trade this season will result in close to a Dead Cap of $19 million & ONLT $3 million in cap savings. That is hardly nothing to speak of.

Nobody wants to speak to the huge size of the HOLE this Rams ORg. has placed itself in. The Dead Cap is going to rise very fast for this team can the Rams buy a "Dead Cap Pump" to help keep the Rams boat from sinking?

Can designate Floyd as a June 1st cut and save $15M, pushing some dead cap to next yr.

They won the SB last yr with $35M of dead cap room.

Everyone loves Philly's future, they currently have $46M of dead cap for 23' and that will likely rise as they try to clear cap room.

The Rams really haven't gone crazy with restructures like other teams have. It's just a popular narrative.

I'm not sure getting rid of both Ramsey and Floyd makes a lot of sense to save cap space this year. One or the other makes sense since they already designated Bwagz as one of the post-June 1 moves that save the most money this year.

Stay tuned for "As the Rams Turn" You never know what the next exciting episode will bring.

Especially with Wagner gone.

FYI this is a brutal year for almost half the teams in the NFL. 15 teams are over the cap. Already we have seen some strong names let go just wait there will be a ton more.

Chicago if they play their cards right with their endless cap room and the #1 pick could really vault up in the North. If I were them I would do a real deep dive on the QBs and see if Stroud, Richardson, Levi's or Young are better than what they currently have in Fields this is a monumental decision for their GM he better get it right the last QB blunder was a move up for Trubisky instead of Mahomes.

If not I would start auctioning off the #1 pick and drop back multiple times netting tons of high picks from potentially bad teams for next year as well setting them up for long term future.

Just think Lovie going for 2 pts at the end of the last game really screwed Houston's chances unless they don't care on which QB they take and let the draft play out. I believe there is usually only one great QB per draft if any.

Lol look at the bears.

And be even more over the cap next year than we already are.
No, because his cap hit will still be much lower in 24' than it is now. Without a release, Floyd has a 24' cap hit of $22.5M. Even a June 1st designated release may only push $8-10M into next yr.

So its still a reduction in his cap hit next yr.

Tough situation. Edge is definitely an area of need. Floyd is the best edge rusher. But he's overpaid for the amount of production he provides. If they do move on from him I hope they have a plan for the edges. We were lacking in that area last year. Hoecht showed promise but he has the size more suited for inside. Maybe a designated pass rusher in passing situations?
