YEAH SURE - LMAO - what a CRAP quote. No comparison -

AD99 freaking actually retired 2 plus seasons. He never got caught up on PILLS. Never cheated or got into Dick Picks to reporters. I can go on.
Of course you can go on, and on
Compare apples to oranges all you like
Still is a little bit similar

When I said that, I heard that JG Wentworth commercial in my head :laugh4:

AD should be thankful he's got an HC that is so level-headed in all this.

McVay is helping AD out by minimizing flak and speculation and criticism.
Let's face it. There really is no hurry for AD to decide. In fact, McVay and the Rams may prefer another couple of weeks before they have to really start preparing for SF.
I don’t think AD considers it without the relationship with McVay
Like XXXIV said, McVay is minimizing flak, speculation and criticism, as well as pressure to decide now. He said he'd like to know sooner rather than later but it's not what McVay says to the media. It's what his conversations are with AD himself and I'm sure those have gone extremely well.

They already know what they're going to have to do cap-wise because not figuring that out ahead of time would be dumb. It's not like AD came back because some shyster stole all his millions. I was looking at the Cousins contract....1.5 mil in 2026, 10 mil bonus deferred to 2027.

AD is due 30 mil. They can twist and wring that thing to just about any team friendly cap hit they want, deferring some to 2027 and 2028, I'd imagine. It's not like we're tight to the cap for those years. If they're having any problems with it, I'm sure they can talk to the Dodgers. :laugh4:  :sunglasses:

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay says he won't put an "invisible deadline" on Aaron Donald to come out of retirement but added that he hopes the former star defensive tackle makes a decision "sooner than later."

McVay discussed Donald's status after Saturday's preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs, telling the Los Angeles Times that he wants to give Donald as much time and space as possible to have "clarity."

"He's put himself in a position to be able to say yes or no," McVay told the Times. "I think he's earned that right to have clarity on that. We're not at that point quite yet."
Donald, who spent his entire 10-year career with the Rams before retiring in March 2024, has been mulling a comeback in recent weeks and worked out with the team earlier this month.

NFL teams are required to trim their rosters from 90 players to 53 on Aug. 30, but McVay insisted he won't put a hard timeline on Donald.

"We have some loose things where we've identified you know dates that we'd like to be able to hit," McVay told the Times. "But what I don't want to have is any sort of unnecessary pressure on him if there's some unforeseen circumstances."

Donald, 35, joined the Rams for a workout Aug. 5 and "looked outstanding," according to McVay. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year began to entertain the notion of a comeback in early June after the Rams traded for Myles Garrett and has been working to get back in football shape.

"We've had some tentative discussions behind the scenes," McVay said. "There's a lot of stuff, without getting too granular with it. ... He knows himself in terms of, 'Am I able to stack back-to-back days? Am I able to do some of the benchmarks' that he's set out for himself."

McVay told the Times that he doesn't want to "put some sort of invisible deadline on something that doesn't exist in my mind" and added that he is pleased with the current state of the Rams' roster regardless of Donald's ultimate decision.

"I feel great about our football team as it currently stands, and I know he'll add value if he decides to come," McVay said.
McVay on AD decision

Just saw this on ESPN, posted 8:37 this morning. There's no hurry. There's no pressure. There's no doubt in my mind he'll be back!!! :laugh4:

Of course the delay might be that Mrs. Donald isn't convinced just yet.

Honestly I could see that he'd enjoy the attention maybe just a little bit, but it's possible he really doesn't know and is torn. He's earned the right to take his time and make the right decision for him and his family. If I had to guess he's itching to play but waiting to see if the feeling of fuck this, I rather not do a whole season kicks in after going thru the paces. Being a pro the way he wants to takes a lot of commitment so he's just respecting the process in my eyes.
AD HOMER!!!!!

Like I said months ago they are letting him work out on his own terms with his own crew and having him come in every few weeks to get analytics on his speed and whatnot. Seeing if there are gains through summer and if he can get close to his pre-retirement numbers while he avoids camp and most of preseason. Rams all about dem analytics.
