Thing is, say the Rams can get this defense to be on the level of the 85 Bears and 2000 Ravens. Neither of those teams had a offense like the Rams do. Not even close.
The Rams might set the record for average win margin. Sacks, record for most opposing QBs in the fetal position.
This is going to be good.
I only want 1 Thing.

To raise that Lombardi at SOFI.....AGAIN.

I hope he comes back in time for training camp. I want both him and Garrett ready to go for the 49er game. Lets give Shanahan some sleepless nights.

I imagine if both are out there together offensive game plans will be shorter drop backs and getting rid of the ball quicker. Take away the short stuff and stop the run. Do that and they can dominate. Dang, I'm getting a boner just thinking about the possibilities.

this is getting ridiculous....

let me let the game planning out of the bag for you....

donald...garrett...turner....young...

and then you add in a couple of new corners....

it goes like this...

man on man press... lets see you ...

A) get the pass off in less than 1.5 seconds... successfully...

B) (and i think this may be the option we get the most of) run for your life (and i do mean your life) with a broken play

and try to make something happen...

this season just can't start soon enough for me...

i'm gonna love me some tight coverage, and the stress it applies to opposing QB's...

go rams

One thing, he will NOT be getting double and triple teamed all the time like he said. It would be suicide for the offense putting one guy on Garret.
That is why this deal is so great. AD with a single guy on him is why he is coming back !

The magic numbers are 73 and 6.

73 is 1 better than the most sacks by a defense (1984 Bears).

6 is 1 better than the most shutouts by a defense since the merger (1976 Pittsburgh Steelers).

Nothing like wiping out a couple of records that are 42 and 50 years old.

And actually the 1975 Rams defense was stellar. 135 points allowed; 15 TDs 10 FGs; 9.6 PPG. Good enough for a 12-2 record but 30 PPG allowed in the postseason.

With the #1 offense and the acquisitions of Garrett, McDuffie and Watson, it gives the Rams a decent chance to get near those numbers. If AD returned, I think the chance would jump from decent to excellent.

Since we have a good offense - I doubt we will get close to the record of shutouts. We could be up 30 - 0 in the third quarter and then we go into prevent a win mode. And probably give up a quick score. Seen it happen too many times.

Just win games, secure home field advantage, and win the Super Bowl. Anything else is extraneous.

This is a big "if". Last season we had true continuity along the O-Line for the first time in like 5 seasons & had a decent Center (thank you Coleman) and our new RT seems to be acquitting himself well. And I feel like we've arrived at a place of peace w/ A-Jax (see other thread). But if "new evidence" appears & he's out 6-8 weeks, #1 O will be very tough to replicate. Then we'll indeed be like the '75 Rams, with a stellar D and an inconsistent O.
