This guys announced his retirement today, making me wonder. Will he get the nod for that gold jacket? Was he that good? Or was Peyton making him that good? I for one, thinks he gets in, he had so many terrific years. I don't think he is first ballet, but I can see it happening down the road.

If he does, then they're really watering down the requirements.

He was really really really overrated, he was never even better than Cook has been in his career so far. In fact, Cook to me is a better tight end than Clark ever was, and Cook isnt that great. Clark had one good year, and another good one. Thats it.

I look at him comparable to a guy like Jackie Smith. Smith played a few more years and had a couple thousand more yards, but, Clark had a double digit TD lead. That said, Smith didn't have Peyton....It's a tough call. But he is by no means a lock, and will need a weak class to get in.

I'm embarrassed, I said yes. Just a reflex action when I thought about his name being called 10 times a game or more. He was dependable and part of that great Colts run. HOF might be a stretch the more I think about it.

Compare: Rec. Avg. TDs

Lynn Swann 336 16.3 51 HOF
Dwight Ckark 506 13.3 48
Cliff Branch 501 17.3 67
Henry Ellard 814 16.9 65 (QB's first 3 years: D. Brock, Jeff Kemp, washed-up Steve Bartkowski)

Branch and Ellard should be in. Clark - no

No. I feel like Jason Witten is a better version of Dallas Clark. HOF players should be the best players of their time but I don't know that I have ever felt Clark was a top 10 player in the NFL at any point in his career. It's only the top of the top 10 that will be given such an honor.

How embarrassing! I was wondering why everyone was talking about TE's... Ellard and Branch still should go to the HOF  bed time

I didn't think it would be such a blow out. But even I was iffy on saying yes. Hell his career numbers are similar to Kellen Winslow. But I agree Witten has been better.

But I think that begs another question, do players sometimes shirt tail in ,cuz Witten doesn't make it IMO unless his QB does and Clark COULD BK of Manning.
