If the really tough losses in the really big games did not hurt so much, the fantastic victories in the really big games would not be nearly as special.

In order to fully appreciate and enjoy the Good, you have to experience and understand the Bad.

Consider the 2021 NFC Championship Game. Think how a life long Niners’ felt (and still feels) about their team’s 4th quarter collapse that cost them a trip to the Super Bowl. Then think about how a life long Rams’ fan cherishes that game.

I’m 65; and I still haven’t let go of the ‘74 and ‘76 Conference Championship losses in Minnesota. However, I have a dozen Amazing Memories of Rams’ victories in huge games.

It’s tough to win in the NFL.
Enjoy every win.
Don’t take any game for granted.
Enjoy the journey.

And eat your vegetables!
I still remember those huge disappointing games too, and the '69 playoff game at the old Met stadium, when we lost after being up 17-7 at the half. The game was much different back then.
The '76 playoff game was the lousy mud bowl at the old Coliseum, I think

I haven't been posting as much in the past year as I had been. This is the second post since the game ended. What an exhausting and disappointing game. I turned on the radio for my morning drive, both the news and sports talk stations were celebrating a 19 freaking point comeback. Stopped listening after a few minutes...

I think about not watching the next game, but of course I will. The Rams can compete against any team. As we all know, they will go as far as the offensive line can take them. They need to stay healthy and possibly get a trade before the trading deadline.

I understand taking a break, but as long as they are in the hunt, I'll watch.

This is not even close to correct. Right about the 50 burgers, but the three score comment? Not even close to correct.

There is the example in question - Gurley scored our last TD to get the game to 48-10.

Then SEVERAL more where he kept the offense going once up there scores:

2017: Colts, Cardinals, Giants, Seahawks, Texans - all games we won handedly - the starters played most of these games. The Texans game was closest at 33-7 (four scores)

2018: Cardinals twice and Niners twice - second Niners game, we were up 45-17 going into the 4th quarter

2019: two four scores wins where backups didn't play - at Falcons and at Cardinals

2021: Giants, Jaguars and Texans (ran it up to 38-0 before backups came in). Bonus: Cardinals in the playoffs, won by four scores, starters were in

2022: Broncos game

Context of the games matters. When he subs matters and if we had depth (early on in his tenure, we absolutely didn’t and the drop off was too big).

There are still coaches that when they can will absolutely step on a team’s neck…and it can be argued that causes more problems in the long run…Payton and Kneecap Dan are two who definitely will do that even if it’s classless.

I’m not even saying it’s a flaw…just that McVay gets conservative once he’s up 3 scores. I didn’t think that was controversial.

I mean I wouldn't say its controversial, its just wrong. That's why I outlined the games that I outlined.

He's more conservative now, but I think that's more because of the personnel after that 2018 season taking a hit. But there are examples of not being conservative when up by 3 scores in that 2021 season as well.

The conservative nature you're talking about really began in 2023 - games like the Saints and Commodes in 2023 where we were up big and they made a furious comeback. But IMO that was because of the personnel - our defense wasn't going to be able to sustain the way they played at the beginning of those games.

Maybe we can look at it this way. The Bucs game, when we went on to win the SB, that Matt Gay game winning, soul stealing, historic field goal did not get blocked. Greg the Leg to beat the Saints with a 57 yarder that sent us to the SB did not get blocked.
We are used to nothing going wrong for the special teams when the chips are down.
I'll take the Football Gods kick in the groin for this reg season Eagles game anyday. I'm going to believe it's a wake up call the team needed, it's early in the season, and the team/coaching staff will not let this happen again.

I think this team is much better, but this was a little mind blowing when I remembered it.....a little "is life a simulation?" moment..

Week 1: close win at home over a team from the state of Texas that was good the previous year who would end up being bad
Week 2: cross country trip, close game, pulled away in the second half and won by multiple scores
Week 3: cross country trip for the second week in a row, this time against a legit contender - one of the wildest games we've ever been apart of. One team went up BIG in the first half, the other made a FURIOUS comeback in the second half. The Rams have the lead late and it seems like we will win a crazy game, but heartbreak ensues with a late score
Week 4: we return home 2-1 to play Daniel Jones

2020 anyone?

I'm a pretty big Stafford Fanboy
BUT
Stafford should have finished at least one of those Red Zone Drives
If he had the game would have been a Rams W!
No whys
No wherefors
We should have won that game

That being said
How many other teams will run the Eagles that close this season?

Really???

We just went toe to toe with probably the best team in the NFC, at their place and really had 99 ways to win it. Not sure how you are seeing the 7th playoff seed....but ok.....

Heck we won the SB as the 4th seed anyway.....
PHI played like shit the first 32 minutes of the game then woke up. Believe me no one wanted the Rams to beat PHI more than me but trading TDs for FGs then missing FGs, getting manhandled in the secondary will bite them in the ass the remainder of the season if they don’t fix it. My point is I’m looking for more than a 10-7 season and 7th seed playoff team this year and it’s achievable but there’s work to be done.

maybe we need to start using Bennet in the red zone! You know, try something different.
