I'm starting to question whether I want OBJ back.

Yeah but Von Miller was saying run it back too and ran to the best offer so that shows it's a business regardless of what players say. I'd love to have him back in horns but as more time passes, other contenders would be more tempted to splurge too.
As time goes on other contenders spend more of their cap in other places too. I recall all of the Rams players and coaches saying run it back. I also recall Von talking about testing free agency. I don't recall OBJ saying that just that he'd love to be back which I don't recall Von saying. Too many people worry about too much that there's no reason to worry over. If it happens then great if not the front office will figure it out.

Well don't take it as panicking on my part, just merely discussing it as I'm more of a roll with the punches kinda guy. I'm just greedy and want all the best players we can get on our squad cuz I want us to repeat lol

I think Von Miller may find himself walking off the field in frigid Buffalo and realizing, all too late, that it was a lot easier playing with Aaron Donald.

Hopefully, OBJ won't suffer a similar regret by going elsewhere for a few more dollars.

Luckily for Von one of the best teams in the NFL was willing to break the bank on Him. I’m pretty sure he is second guessing his decision but that may quickly fade if the Bills come out of the gate swinging.

OBJ definitely wants to be with the Rams, he's stated it over and over. It's no comparison to Von Miller's "run it back" stuff. Comparing OBJ saying in mid-May that he wants to be here is apples to Von Miller oranges commenting about his future while holding the Lombardi Trophy he just won an hour earlier
The problem for OBJ is in evaluating what is fair *right now* vs what he thinks he's worth. I know that's Captain Obvious stuff, but what we dont know is if he is basing his value on what other teams are willing to pay him or just what he thinks is fair, or discounted.
Soon to be 30, rehabbing knee which ended his season 2 years in a row, surely isnt what you want to see

The fact is that we can’t afford to pay him for a full year. Especially when it’s very likely he plays half or even less that this year. Not even factoring in what performance level he comes back at. Or chance of an additional injury occurring.

Eventually, if he wants to be a Ram, he needs to accept the super low base 2022 salary and bet on himself being healthy and getting/reaching performance bonuses late in season and the playoffs.

I dont think that's true at all. If they wanted him back and thought he was worth 15 mill per year, they'd figure out a way to pay him.
They either want him back, or they dont. I dont see them doing business where they'll lowball a guy, and if he comes great, if he doesnt no big deal.

Just know that he says he wants to be here and we know the Rams. If they want it too they'll make it happen. But you also wonder if the injury didn't happen do we even sign ARob?
If I'm Snead I make this happen for a couple reasons. First because if he doesn't sign with us he'll go to a playoff competitor and help them out. And secondly because he fits so damn well in this offense with 9 at QB.

So far as I'm concerned I hope the Rams are still working on this. If not, we're gonna be ok because Robinson was an enormous addition. But I'm greedy I guess. And for some reason I really like Odell.

I believe we likely already took our best shot at getting OBJ back. The rest is up to him. It’s unfortunate that he likely won’t come back for the year on the cheap. We could have really used him late for our run into the playoffs (if we get back there this year.) The problem is that we need to choose a good WR for the FULL year, should someone get injured. We just can’t throw a ton of paper at OBJ right now with his ACL injury.

No one is turning on him. Just pointing out how pointless it is to air out contract negotiations in public. I'd rather we sign him for a deal that works for both sides. It's pretty obvious why it hasn't happened.
Sorry for being a dick, but you don't know they haven't re-signed him yet. None of us know.

Nah you're not being a dick and honestly I don't get offended by discussing stuff with you guys. OBJ himself has stated why he hasn't signed which is why I can make that assumption with confidence.

I trust the front office to be smart and fair about their offer to Beckham. I don’t believe his non-sense about playing for free. How much have they already invested in his surgery and rehab??

He will not be back to full speed for 2022, that 10 month projection might get him started practicing but not much more. Same knee, two years in a row, 30 years old he’s only got about 3 years left before he starts to decline even if he didn’t have the surgeries.

He’s definitely not worth $15 million in 2022 and he’s got to come to terms with that and prepare to blow it up in 2023. Maybe he already has????

The Rams don't need OBJ as much as he needs them. Kupp and Robinson are as good a WR pair as there is in the league. Jefferson is going into year 3. That is when the light goes on for a lot of these young guys. And its not as if his light wasn't on. 800 yards and 6 TD's is pretty good for a WR3. He's also been the primary deep threat. He could really step up this season. Do we really want OBJ taking snaps from him late in the season?

SD, and another thing, Jefferson wife recently, just after the season I think, gave birth to their first born son, this changes attitudes and such

I think OBJ would regret it. He’s never been as happy in the NFL as when he played with the Rams.

Von Miller said at a press conference in Buffalo that it still hasn’t sunk in that he didn’t sign with the Rams.

It was dumb for him not to finish his career where his heart was. But he had his agent and Dad telling him to think with his head and not with his heart. Greed steered their advice. If he was my son I’d be telling him to do what his heart is telling him. Happiness is very underrated. Von passed up a great opportunity. He loved the coaches. He loved how the Rams did things. He loved playing with AD.

It sounds just like things that OBJ said. Hopefully he values his happiness.

What if Rams gave him a$1m signing bonus plus an incentive of $750k for every game he starts in the 2022 season. In addition offer him $15m for 2023 with only $2m of it guaranteed. If OBJ was healthy he will start and if he started he would be worth every cent. If he is not healthy enough to start then he should not expect to be paid more than the $3m guaranteed. Being optimistic he could make $8m in 2022 and $15m in 2023. That sounds fair to both parties as well as protection should he not be able to return.

See to me that's the tricky part. We don't know how far apart they are in terms of dollars but honestly doesn't sound great so far. Plenty of time to sign him since he's still recovering but at that point other teams will enter the mix to add to their squad and to hurt enhancing ours if possible. It's good we have the inside track and maybe Rams waiting to see how he heals up before upping their offer a bit more. Sucks that the injury is putting everything on hold.
It's obvious he wants to be back, and it's obvious we're giving him a 'lowball' type offer. Very likely 1 yr incentive based deal. Maybe 2 year with 1 guaranteed but it cant be for much money. At least OBJ isn't being a dick about it. He's just saying whats going on, and pointing out how he understands the business side of it. In the last two weeks he's made it abundantly clear he wants to be here in LA.

The longer this drags on the more interesting things get IMO. Because we get to observe OBJ's recovery close and get a clear idea when to expect him back. If he has an insane rehab over the next month or two maybe that affects things and we up the offer. Also we should still have Donald and Kupp extensions coming. Both should be structured in a way that creates space..plus I think we already have like $6-7M in cap room at the moment. Maybe we are chasing a FA currently and waiting to sign OBJ after. I'm fairly certain we will bring in another edge rusher, and after that signing and the two contract extensions for Kupp/Donald maybe we have a better idea of how much we can increase the OBJ offer. But right now we're probably hesitant to do that while trying to sign other FAs.
