I’m seeing lots of reasons for optimism as of close of mini-camp...

Questions about player personnel, both large and small, are being answered in the positive to varying degrees.

Let’s see...

Sounds like Goff is taking the next step forward in his 2nd season under McVay.

Cooks appears to have established solid chemistry with Goff already and reportedly is pretty comfortable with the playbook.

We’ve heard lot’s of positives about Everett. That’s huge.

Wade has flat stated that Ebu is one of his starters. I think that speaks volumes.

McVay has said that Longacre is expected back 100% by camp. Wade has predicted him as his other starting OLB.

Littleton seems to have the inside track as other starting ILB opposite Barron. IOW, the 3 LB “holes” that we were worried about were never really holes in Wade’s mind.

Lawler has flashed, so who knows?

The Talib/Peters duo were never really much in question, but it’s sure been nice to hear the positives about meeting rooms, study, and practices anyway.

GZ should be 100% by camp, too.

So, those were the things that I think most of us were wondering about. My own biggest concern was regarding our need for 3 new LB starters. Jury is still out pending camp and PS games regarding our LB situation, but it does appear that Wade felt that his starters were already on the roster.

Anyway, I’d have to say that there’s been a ton of good news on virtually every item that we had questions about. So I guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed for no catastrophic injuries. Lol.

This team is loaded. The only real potential problem I see is if the O line sustains a few injuries.

Greg the Leg is still my biggest worry.

Agreed. And for myself the second worry is seeing the pieces come together and what we'll have at LB. Third would be TE development.

We are very blessed right now as fans, though. What a long way we've come in a little over a year.

Until proven otherwise - TE productivity, OLB experience and OT depth (should there be any injuries) are my biggest concerns.

This ota process has indeed done a lot from what we’ve seen and heard from the coaches to quiet a lot of fears. I can’t wait for the next six weeks to fly by though and get us into camp and show us even more. I wonder how often Jared will have the receivers, tight ends and running backs together to work out. That says a lot about our trailers leadership.

There’s too much history for us Rams fans to not worry some. But this team looks legit and I love the direction we’re headed.

Hard to get much from OTAs and Minicamp yet some positives were reported.

Cooks looking good with Goff! How fast is Brandon Cooks?
Everett looking more comfortable and it being noticed!
JZ kicking early and easy.
Longacre to be ready for camp.

You can add year two in the McVay era as a big positive. Also Goff acknowledging that teams now have film on the Rams but, coaches will make adjustments. Goff mentioning game plan and scheme to a few plays he would like back from the Falcons playoff game. Experience helps.

Greg the Leg is still my biggest worry.
“As soon as I had the surgery done, I could walk like normal,” Zuerlein said, via the L.A. Times. “The relief was instant, so I was pleased with that. From there, it was just strengthening all the muscles around it so it’s protected, and then having the nerve recover. That’s all happened, so I feel great.”

And the oft disappointed Rams fan says: I've heard these same stories every year.

Though this year it's easier to believe. (y)

The secondary, the OL, DL and offense totally look awesome. But what about stopping the run. Quinn, Ogletree and the other outside LB's backups were all on the team last year. I haven't heard anything about being better stopping the run. That's how ATL kept the Rams off the field in the playoff game. Any improvement in that area would make it almost impossible to beat them. Don't get me wrong, I"m guzzling the Kool Aid.

Still not a huge fan of keeping Barron at that other inside spot.... but I like where we are heading into training camp

The D was gashed up the middle last year. I dont see that happening with AD, Suh and Brockers taking on the 5 OL and allowing the 4 LBs to flow and tackle anything that doesnt get gobbled up by the 3 DL. IMO Brockers will have an even better year as he is going to get a lot of 1 on 1 blocking. Add Cooks and the deep passing of Goff and you get early leads and force teams to abandon the run and put their QB in harms way.

Rams defense may end up giving up a lot of rushing yards this coming season, because no team is gonna have any success passing with the d-line and dbs on defense.

For instance, if you were a qb facing the Rams d-line, Suh, Donald, Beockers, would you audible out of a run play into a pass play and risk getting creamed...again!

I think teams will be falling behind. Passing will be how they try to catch up. Rams will be top 10 at least against the run.

yeah, if we can really contain/shut down things like screens, outside runs and the short passing game in the flats, then this team is gonna be scary good.

If Everett really makes the leap like it looks like he could make, the Rams O is really gonna be scary.

I'm more excited about this season, I think, than after we won the Super Bowl!!!
