Still think Klubnik has the best mix of things if the Rams want a QB2 type who might develop into a QB1. And yes he's not ideal, far from it. But his pocket movement and ability to make the first rusher miss are things that should translate well with McVay.
Yeah, but I hate Clemson, so no.

Allar COULD be Josh Allen "Lite," and worth a Day 2 pick? (Ducks for cover)

There have been 60 Superbowls and 3 have been won (5%) by backup QBs (just 1 in the last 36 years, 2.7%). I don't think who's backing up matters. It's Stafford or forget about it. To me "all in" would be surround Stafford with as many talented players as possible, keep him healthy (90% or better) and go win the thing.
You're right that if Stafford is injured and misses the rest of the season, then we're screwed. But a good backup is for the scenario that Stafford only misses a handful of games during the season. You need someone who can win half the games to keep the team in the playoff or home field advantage hunt.

Yeah, I get that. Like Warner/Green back in 2000. But I guess I should have elaborated more. If Stafford misses time because of injury it's going to have to be a major injury because he doesn't miss time otherwards. So there probably won be that "handfull of games" missed unless it's the end of the season and playoffs....not exactly a good scenario.

It's not about Stafford going down for an extended period of time. That would be a disaster.

A quality back-up is hugely important should Stafford go down for 2-6 games.

With a solid back-up, the Rams could win half those games or better. That could be the difference between 14-3, with a Wild-Card-bye vs. 12-5 and playing on Wild Card weekend; or
12-5, with a home field playoff game (or two) vs. 10-7 and on the road in the Wild Card; or
11-6 / 10-7 and making the playoffs vs. 9-8 and missing the playoffs.

So you’re good with Stetson for 6 games over Garappollo and they need to win 2 or 3 to make the playoffs with Stafford coming back???

A backup in the playoffs almost guaranteed not to win it all but, it absolutely matters in the regular season.
