Dude, again, you get lost in the nuances. I bagged on Morris, and even mcvay at times when the play calling OBVIOUSLY cost games, but I'm always looking to praise them when they make the adjustments that have proven benefits.
They're not perfect and many times the sideline adrenaline gets a coach twisted. Even mcvay admitted that after the SB loss to the pats.
Mcvay is great but he's young, and when I hear Warner, Aikman, and Romo say the defense is playing too soft and that Brady is licking his chops seeing a prevent all the way down the field to the winning td, I'm gonna lean their way, especially when I'm seeing the very same thing as the rams Lose the game.
I mean really, how do you defend that? Oh, those guys don't know what they're talking about? Yeah, except it played out the exact way they predicted and I'm not going to ignore that.
last year, the rams played from behind in the playoffs and the superbowl but a key factor in their championship run was playing aggressive defense, which I loved.
But you are going to ignore the fact that they have Kendrick.. who we've seen lit up multiple times downfield... Rapp.. who can't cover.. Scott.. who does fairly well if paired with a better safety who's responsible for calls... Long who's half-decent once in a while and is undersized.. maybe you missed when they pressed with him.. the Cards went right at him and beat him over the top... Hill.. who is a decent zone corner..
They don't have a pass rush on top of all that.
Again.. you think I'm ignoring the results.. I'm not. I'm just pointing out that it could be much worse if you decide to play press with *that* group of defensive backs. The defense is designed to keep games close.. and it has.. but they blew it last week at the end, for sure.
And players were covered in different parts of that drive against Seattle.. and the Seahawk players made better plays.
Who is ignoring what?
