Rams lose to Jets and Cards, and Cards win 2 of 3 and end up with same record, Cards win division and Rams out of playoffs.

Rams gotta win in NY.

I'm fairly sure McVay will approach it in the same way as he would if it were Week 2, but it's a weird one.

We only need to beat the divisional games to take the West.

A wild card is likely out of reach for any NFC West teams, with the Packers having home games against the Saints and Bears left.

Winning out could be the difference between 3rd and 4th seed, which could mean we face the Commodes rather than the Packers.

I'm not suggesting we rest key players, but I'd be giving an extra week to anybody who could seriously benefit from a bye week. I'd hate to pick up a key injury with two such huge games coming up.
Nah you don't go in there scared to play. We go out there and beat their ass. Trying to lineup who we play ahead of time is playing scared to me too. Fuck all those teams. Whoever we get in the playoffs is who we get. Line em up and knock em out.

I think you are interpreting something I never stated.

I never said rest players. I said lets get out injury free, that does not mean rest players.
Well what does it mean? Play touch football?

OK then, that's fine. But I wasn't the only person in this thread that Interpreted your meaning that the Jets game wasn't that important and so play the game to avoid injury. Nobody here wants a Rams player injured, but IMO you can't play scared of it. This game vs the Jets is so important that it might give us a cushion against an unexpected loss vs. the Cards or Hawks. We are better than them, but doesn't always matter in a rivalry game. Hence, all gas, no bakes!

Exactly. You play to win the game. Hard. Hasn't it been said, if a football player plays to avoid injury, there's a good chance he's going to get injured.

Step 1. Go in and retire Aaron Rodgers
Step 2. Go in and retire Kyler Murray
Step 3. Go in and retire Geno Smith or whoever is playing that game

You approach this game with a balanced attack. Ride Williams and Corum and if they're getting yards keep running them. The weather will be cold and your running game will keep your OLine's blood flowing. When it comes to the pass game McVay should be more confident because it looks like Higbee will return in this game. it most likely mean Allen may not be active but at the same time McVay may want all the TEs to help with blocking.

In the passing game McVay cannot be greedy. He should use the pass game with short to intermediate routes for the most part. Such passing will also keep the clock running.

The Jets have a decent secondary, so you don't get pass happy as I see it. Make this a physical game and try to take it to them. I remember the Jets came to LA last time the Rams played them and the Jets took it to the Rams, so PAYBACK is a BIG MEAN DOG!!!

That's what I want...PAYBACK!!!

You have to go hard for the win, just like every week. Too much riding on only three games.

If you are fortunate (and can get out to a big lead early enough), perhaps you pull some starters earlier than you would normally do so, but that's about it.

Its an interesting question, really. Im generally with the others here who say play to win - I don't want to see Jimmy G out there or anything. On the other hand, I don't want to see Stafford going head first into a linebacker to get a first down for a game that does not really determine our playoff hopes.

Jets are a bad team. No run game, just two relevant WR's and a gimpy ancient QB. Score early and often in 1st half, THEN give your backups some snaps.
Every game is A "must win" from here on

You take the edge off at all and you will lose.

Can’t play it safe.

And yes, we need to try to win this game.

If you run the calculations on the espn playoff calculator this game comes in to play on several scenarios., increasing our chance to make the playoffs.

If the Seahawks don't have their QB they could be out of the playoffs in the next couple games. Bad as their QB1 is the dropoff to their QB2 is significant.

So in that scenario if the Rams beat the Jets and the Cards they could be looking at playing third stringers while they rest starters for that final game vs Seattle.

No it means lets hope we get out injury free. Don't have to look into things that aren't there man. I never said play touch football...geez.

I know it hurts to have Soto go to the Mets.....

Revenge for the 2020 loss @ Sofi.
Get McVay's first win against the Jets.
Kyren had 29 carries against the Bills and Frisco. Rams ran more than they passed in those 2 games. Keep up those trends.

with Geno hurt, it feels more and more like the Arizona game is the one that will determine our fate. Now, maybe Carolina will fuck around and beat them this weekend - but I think its the Cards game for the division.

Rodgers may be a diva and not what he once was, but I wouldnt sleep on this team. Scoring 27ppg in their last 4 games, Rodgers has has only thrown 1 INT in his last 7 games, 13-1 TD to INT. Davante Adams really starting to cook, 18 catches on 23 tgt for 307 yards and 3 TD in his last 2 games
