What a bunch of fucking whiners.
Hate us cuz they ain’t us.

Life ain’t fair children - live with it.

Go Dodgers!
Truth hurts....pro baseball is such a shitty set up and this is exactly why I never was personally a fan. If its your cup of tea, there's no hate coming from over here. Enjoy it man and I'm happy for you....it ain't for me though.

Think of it this way: what odds would you have to get to take the Rams over the field to win the SB? As much as I love the Rams and think they should be favored right now, I'd have to seriously consider the field. It's real hard to win a SB and injuries, bad calls and bad luck can derail even the best on paper.

Favorite before season is irrelevant.

Once season starts the favorite will quickly change.

We could be 2-3 or 3-2 after 5 games.

9ers eagles bills broncos and Giants.

Even if we are the best team, any given playoff or Super Bowl Sunday we can be beaten.

Factors:
Injuries
Trades
Rookies
Turnovers
Playcalling
Refs
Matchups
Player performance

Top 3:
Turnovers
Injuries
Play calling

It would seem that fan and media speculation should be rather meaningless.

Oh well. The Rams appear to have had a great offseason thus far. And I believe they could win it all this season.

But, I must admit while I'm probably in the minority again, I believe that I had more confidence in that 2001 team with the Greatest Show on Turf than I do the 2026 Rams.

It's not that I don't like being favored to win it all. I first experienced that acclaim in 1975 some of us still remember how that ended. Throw 2002 in there too, ouch. I don't hold any faith in preseason picks, power ratings or mock drafts. Yeah I'm her... that Debbie chick!!
You asked for it

It is far more satisfying winning in the NFL because it's a level playing field. And because it's a level playing field things like scouting and development, scheme and culture are the edge, not the pocketbook.

I'm with Merlin and other long time Ram fans. I'm enjoying being the favorite. I intend to eat up every second of this year!!

As far as the MLB argument, I've been a Yankee fan since 1963 and Steinbrenner took the rules (or lack there of) and ran with them. Gave Catfish an unheard of 3.5 mil to leave Oakland and come to NYC. Deferred a lot of the money too but not like the ridiculous amount Ohtani got. Even that wasn't enough so we had to get Reggie to win it all. George had way more money than other owners and was willing to spend it. Ended up 7 time Champions and majority owner of YES Network which brought in even more money. But it wasn't all money, it was trades too. At one point the Yankees had 3 of the previous 6 ROY (Munsen, Piniella and Chambliss). I will say this.....as a Yankee fan I was more thrilled about home grown talent like the core of the 96-01 squad than overpaid free agents.

But I digress. It is high time MLB players (and fans) woke up to reality. Some of the oldest, most storied franchises are stranded in that wasteland of competitive disadvantage. Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland (hell they couldn't win when things were even), Detroit, Milwaukee, Minnesota, St. Louis, etc. It's high time, they designed a product like the NFL, where all share in the pie equally because that benefits the entire league. And that's what it's all about. The league.

I want everyone to think back to the 90's and then the Linehan, Spagnuolo & Jeff Fisher era's. Let that marinate for several minutes. Yes I like being the favorite as it beats being an also ran or a never was, that nobody is talking about.

Last 2 Titles are fake. Store bought.
Can't blame anyone who doesn't root for the dodgers, to hate how the system works, but they aren't cheating. They are playing by the rules. The players they buy have worked out. They have also taken players off the scrap heep, coached them up like Muncy and Turner to name just a few. They have a top farm system and scouting team. They are smart with the money they spend and while they have won 2 in a row, it hasn't been easy. There are quite a few teams that can win it all. It isn't fair for the smaller markets, but thats the way it is.

But to call their titles fake or illegitimate, is nothing more than sour grapes. Houston's was fake.

After there is no baseball next year and a salary cap is inserted, then I'll be impressed when the Dodgers win a World Series. Until then, they're just buying it.. Cant tell me otherwise.

Contrary to popular belief its not just about spending money. If that were the case the Blue Jays and Mets would not be at the bottom of their divisions. The Phillies would be a lot better than 4 games over .500.

It takes more than spending money to have a successful franchise. It takes good management like the Rams and Dodgers have. Know where the smart money is spent.

I'm pretty sure fans of teams not named the Dodgers would be thrilled if their team's owner would spend more. But that guarantees nothing.

I think it is incredible that others just can't understand that. :sneaky:

They probably do but their teams won't spend like that. So its easier to say things like store bought and fake. I remember when the Yankees were spending more than everyone else and winning titles. I didn't cry foul. I just said I wish my team would do that. I knew they could. But they wouldn't. Now they have ownership that will. I'd hate to have an owner like the Angels who said winning is not the priority. That would sour me on baseball.

Yeah, its hard for anyone. Injuries and luck have everything to do with it. That freak two point conversion in Seattle changed the whole trajectory. If we win that we're the number one seed. Seattle plays on the road. Things coulda looked quite different. Whatever the case I like where we're at now. I'd rather be sitting where we're at now than having a team that doesn't look as strong.

With this mindset we are stripping many of the Yankees titles amongst others and "nearly" every NBA champion over the past several years of their titles.

I agree in the sentiment that naturally drafted and developed teams are far more impressive but I think those times are fading.

Shit, look at what has happened in college football with NIL, you have the same players entering new programs every year.
BYU now has a highly caffeinated drink (Monster) as a partner and will wear a patch on their jersey.............BYU???

Times are a changin!

Well, many are not capable, and it's absurd there is a professional sport where some teams have a $75M payroll, while others have a $350M payroll, and then are still deferring 100's of millions more to land top players.

Now, a high payroll is no guarantee... see the Mets, but the competitive balance is just not present in baseball. And yes, I realize some owners won't spend, aka Pittsburgh. However, even if they spent as much as they could, they still couldn't afford half of what the top teams spend.

So baseball is kind of a joke.
Transfer Portal and NIL are making College Football a joke as well.
