Wow! I did not expect that defensive output last night. Shula clearly saw what Detroit did to Minnesota and trusted his defenders in bump and run to man up on Minnesota's receivers - and did they respond! Rarely did we see receivers running wide ass open like we have in the past. Rarely (until we had a big lead late in the game) did we give them an 8 yard cushion at the snap. Sure, once in awhile a TE would be open underneath but that was as good of a defensive game plan as I've seen from the Rams in a long time. I've become so tired of the bend-but-don't break mentality that gives us a chance but isn't very aggressive. Our secondary proved they can play with anyone last night. Jefferson is one of the best in the business and we virtually shut him down. The DL was on fire. Let's hope we can keep Hurts in the pocket and tackle Saquon this time.

Yeah, seemed similar to Det's style of play. On the Athletic pod, Robert Mays said that the Rams played Cover 1 (30%) the most last night. Which is definitely a change.

Like they say hind site is 20/20 but I hope doubters on this forum learn that a new coach/young team take time to develop. There was a lot of head hunting for Shula very early in this season which continued until the run of sub 10 point performances. And trust McVay a little more as he has NEVER let us down. Sometimes it just takes a little while to learn and adjust.

Which made the earlier thread all the funnier. First half of the season was a lot of complaints and they've all grown a lot this year. A couple more pieces and it could be a dominant D soon. Love my guy Verse!

I hope he pulls a Ben Johnson and sticks around an extra year after he starts getting interviews. Staley failed because he wasn’t ready. He made the jump too quickly.

Detroit actually rushed a lot of six man fronts against Minnesota. The Rams blitzed but mostly rushed their normal 4-5.

It makes me wonder if Detroits scheme hid some of their defensive injury problems.

These last two losses were on KO’C as much as it was to credit Shula. Just like McVay a few years ago, O’Connel stubbornly stuck to his guns with his longer developing routes and deeper drop backs. I fully expected him to come out and play the short passing game to protect Darnold and try to control clock. Maybe he underestimated the Rams defensive capabilities.

I loved shula’s plan. It worked perfectly, but after last Week KOC should have been ready for it.

I'm not sure where ABC got that "sack record since 1963" from, I found nothing for that year but a handful of sacks. I thought it would be related that bloodied photo of Y.A. Tittle of the Giants or the early Monsters of the Midway but nope they just had a few. On further research I found the teams.
