After one failed fake punt pass, McVay refused to take that gamble again. If you ain't going to use him for fakes, it's almost a waste to have him. Some team with nothing to lose will grab him and do fake punts every time now

Mr Hekker.....thank you for all you did!!!

I didn’t see every game this year. When was the last time he completed a pass? I’m sorry to see him go, time marches on.
I saw every game.

He completed 1-1 for 2 yards this year.

What didn't show up on the stats sheet was this play vs NYG where he was robbed of a big completion.

Thanks for all the fun, Johnny. What also doesn't show up in stats is how he fired up his crew.

The business of it, it makes sense.
The timing makes sense. The move as a football decision makes sense...

The only thing that doesn't make sense is how much I'm bummed out by this.

Thanks for everything Johnny Hekker.
Couldn't have put this better.

I just wonder if they worked hard enough to tweak his contract to change the calculus of the football decision. Or maybe there is still some resentment over that fake punt that chased Bones out the door?

In any event, I sort of understand, but I know there are worse things than having a top 5 punter whose best attribute is accuracy and pinning teams deep.

Thank you Hekk for a Hall of Fame career in horns. What a career to grind through those tough seasons and finish with a ring. Best of luck in retirement. :trophy:

Loved Frank...ate up his leg when they started using him for kicks and punts.
i agree, IMO, never a punter, but Rams went cheap ended up being replaced by Mike Lansford (Kicker) & John Misko who ironically was from Oregon State in 1982, Ray Malavasi's last year as Head Coach.

Johnny Hekker The Field Changer.

In 2016 he had a NET YARDS PER PUNT of 46.0 YARDS!! That's on 98 punts with 51 inside the 20-yard line for a 52%. Those numbers may never be topped.

I think Hekker started the second wave of punters coming out of college with booming kicks. He showed there was great money to be made in the NFL for punters.

I've been saying for a while now that he had regressed with some accuracy and inconsistent punts. The punt coverage regressed too. He had a solid year as the 4th highest net average in 2021 of 42.6 YPP.

Good luck to Johnny Hekker The Field Changer who did with his big leg and a strong arm!

Don't get it. What will the rams save after they add a new punter? Maybe a mil. A little more? Our special teams was kicking ass last year and now we're dumping the punter with the 4th best net? We saw how things went for green Bay and now we're rolling the dice. Hekker isn't just a great punter, he's a calm and confident presence on the field. I hate to say it but I think this is coming back to bite us .

And maybe a better punter
