If he is there at 26 (not going to happen) take him. Do not like trading away any picks to get him, especially anything in 2026.

Yes, that may be the case but no guarantee there's people to spend it on and some of these guys like Witherspoon we're not gonna want back.
Man, there's always players to spend it on.

I will say the most important thing is finding impact players. IMO, the team needs quality over quantity.

I do suspect this draft will mostly be about filling depth with little concern for immediate starters but even with this the hope is that these guys can be impact starters/contributors in years 2-4.

Crazy to realize that while it feels like Gurley has been out of the league for like a decade, he's still just 30 years old. Younger than Derrick Henry.

I remember watching Verse at FSU and telling my sons... "that guy is a fucking total badass, too bad we're picking so late in the 1st cause he'll be gone by the 5th pick maximum.

I'm still fucking in shock that he fell to us. What a blessing!

My subconscious has been beating the drum for Jeanty in my head this whole off-season. I feel the same way about him as I did Verse... there's just no way he'll still available when we pick. Hopefully we'll see a bunch of QB desperate teams over drafting most of the QBs in this draft before we get on the clock and he somehow falls low enough that we are able to land him like we did with Verse.

The RB position has been undervalued by the whole league. I sure hope that way of thinking makes him drop way down into our laps!

Those drums sound good in my head.

Jeanty is McVay's type of back. He likes 'em little and shifty, some elusiveness and contact balance. So if Jeanty were to fall anywhere near the Rams pick you can rest assured McVay would be jumping on desks to get Les to move up.

But he won't get anywhere near our pick. He is one of the more sure things in a homogenized group of guys from let's say 7-40 who don't have a ton of separation. You can look at all the picks going off from 7 to the teens and compare them to the dudes slotted in the 20s and in most cases the dude taken in the 20s is at least somewhat comparable in that role.

And this is even more true with RB. I keep saying that Martinez may be the best back from this draft. The dude is a Lynch clone. And he's not the only power back who may be undervalued, as you have Skattebo who has great tape and showed explosiveness in his workout. If anything this is the one knock on taking Jeanty high, and the sole reason he may slide a bit. But he won't slide too far because he's a high percentage of being what you expect at the next level. His agility, speed, and contact balance will play.
I’ve got Jeanty “sliding” to the Bears at #10.

He looks like Emmitt Smith light to me. Unreal balance to go with vision, some power and breakaway speed. He’ll be even better after he gets into an NFL weight room.

I’d love nothing more than to get a difference making RB later as you said, but the elite RB’s go high for good reason. I happen to believe we need one more than most fans do.

I LOOOVE KW!!! that guy is an unreal "grinder" back, who can take a lead & never let it go.
But we gotta have that back who gets us that lead faster. There's no way I'm spending that much draft capital to get Jeanty, but stranger things have happened... an RB needy team could prefer Omarion, or even Treyveon. But one of these 3 will fall to us at #26.
Sure, we need an OT to back up AJax; a CB; even Campbell would make sense. But having a real burner HR threat in the backfield makes a huuuge difference on O.

I love having a franchise back, and if Jeanty slid to a point where we could go up and get him without giving away the entire farm, I'd probably be ok with it. He'd be an instant difference maker in this offense. That being said, the likelihood of him falling far enough to make it feasible for the Rams to go get him is slim and none, and I think Slim might have left the building.

I think you are already aware of my man-crush on Skatteboo, and he's a guy we could reasonably get with one of the picks we currently have. He doesn't necessarily have breakaway speed, but he has what I call breakaway power, because he's a powerful back with incredible balance that can easily break multiple tackles until there is nobody left to catch him. I'd be fucking ecstatic if he ended up a Ram ... and horrified if he ended up with a divisional rival.

Based on pre-draft rumors, Jeanty is likely to go in the top 10. Maybe even the top 5 or 6 picks. There's not a realistic option for us to trade up. You don't mortgage the farm for a HB.

This is the silly time in the NFL. Everybody and their Fantasy League brother are doing goofy mock drafts.

I clicked on this article expecting to roll my eyes. But I found it surprisingly intriguing.

I'm curious what you gents think of this guys speculation on Jeanty. I could see this happening. And like when we picked Gurley years ago when "We don't need a running back",
this move, though I doubt it is likely, could make this offense amazing!

Not a new thought. This is what I say they should do. Not only does it super charge the O, but it takes a ton of pressure off the D. They would be playing with the lead most of the time and able to turn the Dline loose. Oh well, never gona happen.

No chance. To even entertain the idea, you'd think they'd need an accepted trade for Kyren that was either a 3rd or a high 4th. If we are blowing up our whole draft for 1 player, give me Hunter. I'd love Jeanty on our team, just no real chance.

I'm not even sure we're going to be in a position to get Omarion Hampton, let alone Ashton Jeanty. Hell, Judkins and Henderson could be surprise firsts.

Jeanty would be awesome if by some miracle he fell. But he's projected to be picked somewhere in the first 6 picks. I wouldn't want us trading away that much draft capital for any rookie ever.

The explosives can come from RB, WR or TE.
So to me as long as we get some of those explosive types,
position is not important.

Also I don't remember having any true game breakers When we won the last SB.

We were just very consistent on offense and had a defense that could get after the QB
We still have a QB who can will his way to victories in the 4th,
and a Dline that is already good with a chance of being very special

I like him too. Would love to see us end up with him. I just have Martinez a bit above him.

If I'm Les and Coach is telling me RB is his priority, I would drop down and position for one of those power backs.

Cooper Kupp would probably disagree here.... He was unstoppable
I think the conversation was more about needing to get
explosive players with the speed and ability to break off big
yardage plays, consistently. Kind of like Barkley breaking the 60 yd TD's

Your point about Kupp being unstoppable was kind of what I was
saying about our last SB. We didn't need the game breaking long plays to get it done.
What we had then and what we have now are offensive weapons that can consistently
keep the chains moving and make the clutch plays when it matters most.
I would say our offense looks fairly similar at wr as our SB team.
OBJ-Davante and Kupp - Puka. And a much better RB with Kyren over Sony Michaels, Akers
