Yeah, but Maryland fought for the Union. Hence, not Southern.

Please ignore that the state of Missouri fought for the Union as well; we're still quite Southern, as well as Midwestern and Western.
Missouri is not western. It is only mid.

Ohio is neither mid nor western.

St. Louis is called "the Gateway to the West", and it's on the eastern side of Missouri. Also, Independence, Missouri is where people began traveling west. And Missouri's history when it came to the Civil War also makes it somewhat Southern (not entirely, but still.)

Missouri seceded from the union 10/30/1861.

I'm pretty sure that Missouri fought for the Union, along with Maryland. They were the only two slave states that fought for the Union, if I recall correctly.

Same here. I loved the fact that he was always appeared to remain humble, though ,at one time he was the best RB
in the league. The fact that he was born in my home state of North Carolina just made me love him even more.
Not sure what happened between he and Mcvay, or who was at fault. I know it hurt Gurley's feelings, pride when
he was cut, hence some of his statements made afterwards.

I feel bad for the guy as well and hope he can regain some of that juice he once had, just as long as it's not
against the Rams.

I can't feel sorry for him...He's still a gazillionaire because of the guaranteed money he got...Thing that bothers me most is that Rams head shed supposedly didn't know about the severity of his knee problem...How could they not before they emptied the vault for him ???

Missouri had two govts, one on either side, and sent many troops to both armies, but its culture outside of St Louis (stl was full of recent Irish and German immigrants who were staunch unionists) was predominantly southern. Missouri lead the nation in hemp farming, which tied it, literally and figuratively, to king cotton in the south. Most if its citizens migrated from Tennessee and Kentucky and brought southern Appalachian culture.
