Noooo, you have a bye week (sunday off) then come back the next week and instead of playing sunday you play a couple of days earlier. Yes it cuts your bye week by 3 days but it offsets itself because you'll have an extended week after your thursday night game. That's really the only way you can fix Thursday night.
The fans enjoy them including me . Take your huge paycheck and do your job is what I would tell my workers .
I think a simple solution is to start thursday night games after week 4 and only have them when a team comes off a bye. They could make that work it would just take a little thought.
Every team plays one game on Thursday. There are usually 3-5 teams off during any given bye week.
I'll do you one better. Have two bye weeks. First bye week is before a Thursday game for both teams who will be playing that Thursday game - 2nd bye week will be a normal bye week, Super Bowl is one week later.
This would make the season 18 weeks, which adds another week of revenue for a TV deal. It would also make Thursday games safer and better quality football.
Win/win for all parties.
Not every team needs to play on Thursdays.
It used to be that way, then the few teams who did play on Thursday complained about getting shafted, therefore everyone gets shafted. I don't see that rule changing.
You ever played football? Playing a whole game is exhausting. Then to play another one on 3 days rest is really hard your body.
If the NFL is so worried about players safety then they wouldn’t have Thursday night games.
If the media didn’t like Thursday night games they wouldn’t have Thursday night games.
So you think you’d get the same quality of game on 3 days rest compared to 6 days rest?Yeah I played 10 years of football for free . I also worked hard for 30 plus years for a fraction of what they make . Sorry , no sympathy from me . Lets ask the military and first responders if they feel sorry for the players . The fans are the ones making them and the owners rich . I believe they get 10 days to recover after a Thursday game .

Of treating employees employees well and increasing their quality of life wasn't proven to increase productivity, I'd be right there with you. Sadly, taking people like humans and not machines makes a difference. And I'm not trying to be an ass. I'm serious. I really wish you could just tell people to shut up and do the things and get top notch productivity out of them. It just doesn't work like that. The reason most Thursday night games suck is probably because both teams are mailing it in on a short week while nursing all the damn bruises from the last one.The fans enjoy them including me .
